NEW: Gloss It DA Backing Plates
At last, after what feels like months of waiting, we now have Gloss It's super cool DA backing plates in stock. Description: Gloss It Dual Action Backing Plates are made from impact resistant synthetic nylon bonded to a 22 mm thick layer of instant rebound foam, and are ideal for use with 5/16 UNF threaded dual action polishers, including the Meguiars G220 Dual Action Polishing Machine and the Kestrel DAS-6 Dual Action Polishing Machine. The instant rebound foam layer provides far greater vibration damping than any other dual action backing plate designs we have tested and allows for supremely comfortable transitioning from flat to contoured surfaces, while the hook and loop velcro facing material enables quick and easy pad changes. Once again, by paying attention to the tiniest details, Gloss It have moved the game on in terms of what can be expected from polishing accessories. We offer two different sizes of backing plate...
Note: The 22 mm thick layer of instant rebound foam used in the construction of these backing plates provides superb performance benefits, but users should be aware that this design is not as resistant to extreme torsional forces as more rigid backing plate designs. Accordingly, users should ensure that machine speed is limited to 4000-5000 orbits per minute (speed 4-5 on most dual action machine polishers) and that only light head pressure is applied to the machine. If you exceed these boundaries (e.g. by working at 6000 orbits per minute using heavy pressure for long periods) there is a potential risk of the foam layer tearing or delaminating, with potentially catastrophic results. Please use these backing plates as the designer intended, and adjust your method accordingly!
