Question Swissvax alternatives ??

I'm nearing the end of my 3rd pot of Samurai wax, basically I've been using this product for the best part of 7 years now and cannot fault the stuff apart from where the price seems to have gone to

I did try Blackfire at one point but simply could not get on with it at all, I am in the open air when I clean the car so if the sun is out it can be a pain and the same when it is slightly cooler, the Swissvax is so easy on and off in these conditions plus it looks top dollar on the car and lasts well but after just looking to see what the latest costs are it appears to have hit £50 a pot, I'm sure it's gone up £5 or more since the last one I had.

I want a viable alternative if possible that will give me the same standards as Samurai has given me... what are the waxes of choice out there these days guys ?

Checking on Zymol Japon Wax which I've never used I see that's near £50 as well.... What's DoDo Juice like ? I see they do one called Blue Velvet for dark cars costing around £32 a pot, don't see a jap specific one ?

One that does interest me is Harly Wax, this is a yellow Brazilian wax using 100% premium yellow carnauba around £16 a tin has anyone used this one at all ?

Thanks
Simon

This `Jap specific` just seems a bit of marketing bull to me.

I`ve used a few of the Dodo range, if you don`t want to spend as much for the Dodo Supernatural I`d go for Purple Haze, I just prefer it to Blue Velvet.

Dodo have sample pots, worth a try as there seems to be enough in a sample pot for a good few layers of wax.

Collinite 915 takes some beating at the price(around £23-£25)pretty good on all colours, not the easiest to buff off at all but does leave decent results.

If im honest though im going off waxes in favour of sealants-just prefer the finish they leave.

Only dodo wax i thought ok were supernatural-not necessarily for overall shine just you needed so little to do your car although expensive would work out at good value-other dodo stuff i didnt think were any better on your car than any of the cheaper waxes available-to me theyre just overpriced.

915 on red

On the runabout (Had previously been done with fourstar ultimate paint protection-very simular to blackfire wet diamond AFPP)

on my scooby

Thanks n one I'll check the Purple Haze out and see what it say's about the place.

Cheers Dave, It's been a while and I see the car is as good as ever there I don't hear much about Collinite 915, I'll check that out as well and see what the score is but I do want an easy on and off wax ideally.

Has anyone used Harly's at all ??

I've run the PC over the car during the last few days and removed all the old wax plus a few swirls, ideally I don't want to put the last bit of my Swissvax on only to use another brand on top next time I wax so I want to get the replacement brand on this time and save the Swiss for my wheels

Nice to get back to the start again

I'm not sure if it is safe but I have been on DW

When I used the PC on the car I used Meg 83 with it which has really cleaned it up well.

It has been suggested that I could try Meg 7 for that little extra then followed by a wax, I'm considering Purple Haze as the wax to try still.

Has no one on here tried Harly's at all ??

Couple of me mates swear by zaino stuff,im not totally convinced yet but a mates VXR did look sweet when he`d used it.

I still prefer the look of sealants(even though ive prob got 5 or 6 different waxes meself) this were fourstar ultimate paint protection(2 coats) over chemical guys wet mirror finish(1 coat),never used a polisher on mine.

Fourstar ultimate paint protection`s been re-marketed as sonus paint sealant.

Two good jobs there Dave

Right made my choice here, what a job that was

Going for a bit of a change this time...

I going to give the car the once over with Lusso - Revitalising Creme then I'm going to go with Dodo Juice - Purple Haze as the wax, I've also got a small pot of Dodo Juice - Born to be Mild Maintenance Shampoo to try as well.

I'll take some pics and show you how it looks after that thanks for the input gents

I've decided to have a change this time... I have done this once before and gone back to Swiss as well so we shall see.

On another really positive note my quest has led me to find a Swissvax detailer/dealer about 15 minutes from where I live so I'll be calling in to see him at some point in the near future to say hello, how mad is that !

Good van there ! red paint as well... and not matt in finish

Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax is worth considering... £38 a tub, easy to use, durable, and looks insanely wet on dark finishes.

Just a thought!

I`ve just read your thread on DW, that`s a nice offer, yeah get round and try some out.
Swissvax HQ is just round the corner from me, I do try to stay away and stop my over spending.

I`m currently using Best of Show on my Impreza, and love it. You can just see the reflection of it in the rear panel of the van

Anyway, what have you decided on Simon? Dodo?

Best of Show very nice indeed.... and yes it was a suprise to find someone so close and I will be calling in to say hello for sure.

So Far I have run the PC over with Meg #83 on a Sonus Spot Buff Pad.

I had come to the decision to try the Meg #5 best of show glaze before I waxed but then as you see Dave suggested the Lusso Revitalising Creme and I have decided to go with a pot of that to try, not to expensive at all plus he rates it quite high on dark colours.
Then it will be Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax next with the Born to be Mild shampoo to keep it clean.

Scarey stuff it's all starting to make sence

Time for a little update here,

As said above here's the list of products...
PC with Meg #83 on a Sonus Spot Buff Pad
By hand next...
Lusso Revitalising Creme
Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax

See what you think

Very tempted at some point to try the Lusso wax to see what it is like after hearing good reports about it.

I'm sure the car looks deeper in colour than it was before, the Lusso went on and came off quite easy as did the DoDo wax... in all very pleased with the results.
