Nothing can really be done once severe road rash has set in; you could dress them weekly with Meguiars All Season Dressing, and this would help to hide a lot of the dryness and give a nice shine, but not solve the problem fully. The better solution would be to cough up for a new set once a year; expensive I accept, but road rash is road rash - at least you're saving your paint!

i might try the megs season dressing first b4 i buy a new set of flaps, but if do go the new flaps route, i was thinking of getting the carbon fibre one would they suffer just the same from road rash or would they withstand the test of time a bit better?

Hi.
Just had mine off to correct the very same problem.
As Rich has said having stones flicking up on the flaps is not helpful to keeping them clean and tidy.
I removed the flaps from the car, gave them and thorough wash with neat Autoglym Powermax 3 and placed them on the work bench
and removed the worst of the marks with electric mop using fine paint cutting compound. Finished of with Autoglym vinyl/rubber care.
I suppose it's all down to how badly pitted they are and how much time you wont to spend on them.
Mine are genuine Prodrive so I can't afford to change them every year, and I can justify half a days work.
