Default R.I.P Karcher k3.97

My trusty beast past away Tuesday.

Has been a trusty beast for the last 6 or 7 years.

I thought it sounded a little odd last time I used it whilst rinsing the buckets out but because I had my car running at the same time I thought it was ok?

Sadly today whilst going to rinse the suds off the car she blew in a big way with a bad odur to add insult to her.

God bless all who have used her over the years.

So this means now I need a new PW. What are the best ones out there at present for good value for money? I wouldn't mind getting one from Halfrauds as I have some gift vouchers to use but they don't have big range at my local fleecing shop.

Any suggestions?

R.I.P my darling.

Just had a butchers on Halfrauds and came across a K591. Anyone got one? Any good?

Seems to have a better bar and flow rate than the old beast.

What are halfords own models like? Can you add a foam lance to the triggers?
HP2000

To be honest it doesn't have to be like my old one but something that has has enough bar and flow rate for ideal car cleaning.

[car care section silence broken - just because it's you ]
Steve,

What ever you do don't buy a Halfrauds own. I had one and the second time I used it it blew up. It all depends what you want to spend? Kranzle are the daddy of pressure washers but cost a good few hundred. I've always had Karchers and am only on my second one in 6- 7 years. The last one I bought was a cheapy (£80) as I'll be fixing my other one when I can find a tool to be able to take the casing apart.

Matt.

My old K210 was 9 years old. Sadly, even though it was kept away from frost (heated garage) and primed/purged before switching on, it did what many karchers seem to do:

Blew the plastic cylinder head (replacement head is £50 ) It split right by the outlet to the HP hose. I did repair it with Araldite, that lasted about 10mins before it burst again.

I still can't understand why pressure washer maufacturers insist on using plastic for such a critical component that is put under so much stress (in excess of 2000psi to be exact) .

Consequently I bought a Bosch Aquatak 150 pro X (£250 on offer last autumn). Bloody expensive...but a brass cylinder head should at least mean there is one less crappy piece of expensive plastic to break for no reason.

(PS, if anyone wants a dead 210 for spares...the motor is still good, as is the main pump body/pistons. non-genuine Hose/lance has seen better days though ).

Thanks all for your kind words. Very comforting at times like this. God rest her soul.

Thanks Matt. Looked at those Kranzle beasts woooooow. Sadly I'm not flush at present to treat myself to that standard. Would be nice though.

I've had a look around and these Karchers give me a fuzzy feeling inside. But I am not sure what one to buy?

K591
K691MD
K586

I think it's time to really treat myself and buy a nice YELLOW hose pipe too (any ideas?) as the current hose is a little tired but I want to re-use the current reel. Trouble is I need a 65m or so one as the tap is round the back of the nest.

I also may treat myself to a Karcher Foam lance to go with the new PW.

** ALL OF THE ABOVE MAKE IT EASIER FOR MATT ON HIS NEXT VISIT ** lol

I brought a K591 today. Going to settle her in tomorrow if weather holds out to clean my Mum's motor.
