Dealing with rust patches help
Hi y'all,
We've just got a new to us Fiesta runabout. It does have a few rusty patches on it. On a silver car the rust really stands out though its probably no more rusty than our previous red one. I would like to make the car look as good as possible but don't want to spend much. What steps should I take and what kind of products would I need from Halfords etc. Any advice greatly appreciated. Pics below.

Yes I can see what you mean. To be honest, its such a cheap car I was hoping I could sort of just sand, smooth and spray it the right colour to make it less noticeable. Would that work or would the rust just reappear quite quickly?

it will come back and make it look worse (like its not been repaired properly instead of just rusting with age)
you can usually find a few cars on the road where some crazy old bloke has rubbed his rust down to "bare metal" and then primed it back up, sometimes they even spray a top coat on from a can, but the rust always comes back as it has not been cut out, i don't really believe in all these "rust treatment/converter" products either as they never seam to work properlly, compared with grinding it out and filling it back in.
some sort of cheap stick on arch trims are probably your best bet for a cheap fix IMO

sorted
grind them back, slap a load of underseal on and fit these over the top to hide the shenanigans
Body-kit.co.uk | Ford | Fiesta Mk5 | Body Kits | Ford Fiesta Mk5 99-01 3dr Lester Wheel Arches - ABS
with a bit of luck and if you trim the rear ones so the majority of it is attached to the rear door, it will probably hide the door rust as well
