Cheaper here:

Agree the other ones look like converted grinders, spend a few quid more and get a DA action.

I have the Meguairs G220 - it was all that was available at the time, unless I bought a UDM or a PC with a transformer, it is a very good machine but I'd probably go for the Kestrel now, infact I'm looking at getting the Kestrel Rotary as it looks a bit better than the Silverline Orange.

Conner> don't bother with an Ebay cheapie, get yourself a decent machine from either Autobrite or CYC etc - its a false economy in my opinion.

You could also pop over to Detailing world & have a look ad DaveKG's machine polishing guides - everything you need to know, but were afraid to ask!

Obviously not seen our new FAQ yest then? It tells you how to work out how hard your paint is, and then advises you about the most suitable pads and polishes to use. For standard Subaru paint (which is intermediate in terms of hardness) this link would apply for DA usage...

Car Care Advice - Frequently asked questions about car care products and techniques

Secondary paint jobs are usually harder than original paint, but it won't be possible to confirm this before you start the job. Therefore, the advice on the above link remains the best place to start, and you always have the option of using more aggressive pads if you need to.

The Kestrel DAS-6 is the best value wholly appropriate machine currently available; those linked on E-Bay above are rotary tools that are unsiutable for DIY use - to understand why read this...

Great deals on the Kestrel when bought in kit form with pads from our site; equal if not better to other offers on the same machine, and you get the benefit of having us on the end of the phone if you end up needing any in depth advice on what you are doing.

P1 paint is usually harder than for other Subaru's, don't ask me why, I just know this from painful personal experience of having to polish them lol! A safe starting point would be the option given above for intermediate paints, i.e...

However, you may find you need to up the ante even if the swirls appear to be quite light, due to the hardness of the paint, so keep this in mind.
