Default alternator cleaning

hi cleaning experts

i was wondering how to clean up my alternator while its off the car. its not corrided just dirty with that original waxy coating. i know it should be covered when cleaning the engine to avoid getting it wet. i was thinking of spraying it with autoglym engine cleaner and using a toothbrush, but im not sure. any suggestions would be greatly welcome
thanks

a good degreaser such as megs super degreaser on something like a poorboys work towel. that should do the trick. or be brave and take it apart, send the outer parts for bead blasting and seal them with blackfire metal sealant when you get it back.

Might be worth speaking to Type-R Pete on the SIDC forums; I seem to recall him doing this to an exceptional standard recently?
