Default 2nd detail with Megs G220, this time - my car!!

Was off for the Easterr Weekend and the wife was working, so I thought I'd get cracking and spend a bit of time really cleaning my car up, finished fitting all the spec R, samco bits etc and had the remap, so thought I'd do the bling!!

First of all - confirm enough polish to do the job -

Check!!

Wee shot of the machine in all it's glory -

Decided to do the engine bay first, mainly cause it looks so good when it's cleaned.

Before

Then hit it hard with 303 aerospace protectant and Megs NXT metal polish and it now looks like this-

Then I decided to wash the car using the 2 bucket method and megs nxt car wash and a lambswool mitt (not really any before photos's as overall the bodywork is very good)

Then I clayed the body and bearing in mind it was clayed in September, wasn't sure this was necessary, how wrong was I??

Then dried the car with an "absorber", a drying cloth I buy in the States when I'm on holiday, superb bit of kit and then finished off with a Megs waffle weave towel

After this, it was on with the wheels and brakes, since fitting the Brembo GT BBK, I love cleaning the calipers (sad I know, especially as they're not gold!!)

Used Megs All Wheel Cleaner, polished the rims with nxt metal polish and fully sealed with my newest purchase - poorboys wheel sealant, superb - thanks PB!!)

Before-

Then after a bit of elbow grease -

Before doing the bodywork with the G220 (thought I would do everything else first, I gave the intereior a clean with poorboys, it wasn't that dirty, so no before's, but it also shows all colour coding I did to the interior to match the centre of the dash as I think the grey/silver is nicer than the black plastic finish and also makes it a wee bit different!

Then I did the glass with Megs glass cleaner and proceeded to tape the car up -

Then to the bit I enjoy - the machine polishing, for anyone thinking about it, the G220, is a superb bit of kit and as long as you're careful, is a real joy to use and gives great results. Some of you may have seen my review of Dr Colorchip, well the instructions say wait 7-10 days before polishing, well I thought I'd try it after 24 hours and it stills look perfect after machine polishing (not too sure how good the photo is)

After polishing, did all the black with Megs trim detailer and the exhaust pipe with Megs Nxt metal polish and that was that (and I was utterly knackered!!) Time to go back to the day job!!!

Now that both mine and the wife's car was finished, I'd promised the sister in law, I'd do her Punto which was fresh out of the bodyshop, but that's another story!!
Regards

Mike

Nice job and a great write up too. Much as I love Polished Bliss's threads and the fantastic photos within, it's good to see individuals like yourself showing what can be done at home.
