Default Removing tar spots

Howdy,

after driving along a newly surfaced road yesterday and cleaning my silver 1993 wrx today, ive noticed tar spots on the lower part of the doors.

I did the silly thing and LIGHTLY picked at them with my finger nail which just smudged them.......oh dear.

I was thinking of t-cut but what would you recommend?

Cheers

Nathan

you can buy the specialist products that are designed for the task but on my old silver classic I once used a bit of WD40 and it brought it straight off. Not too sure whether the cleaning experts would recommend using it though

Autosmart tardis would be the best bet have a read on PB site ..... or a clay bar, but WD40 would work but prob not great for your paint work in the long term

Meguiars Quik Clay - Meguiars Car Care and Detailing Products

I would recommend that mate it’s a very good starting product as it comes with all you need and is relatively week therefore very safe to use. The quick detailing spray is also very good for general use around your car to remove figure prints and water marks after you have washed and dried your car ..

All good advice above bar the WD40, which is a pretty strong oily solvent and thus not great for paint as it leaves a slippery residue which will prevent protective products from bonding properly. Also, it is not advisable to use a polish to remove tar spots, as this results in unnecessary paint removal. So, either a tar & glue remover or a clay bar are the best methods. See this guide for more info and a step by step pictorial guide...

Spray some WD40 on and leave it for half an hour...after that the tar spots just wipe straight off, easy! Its never done any harm to any car i've used it on.
