If you have light swirls and the like, then something like Auto Glym Super resin polish (SRP) will work and hiding these. This is was I found reading on DW forum.
Then wax with a good quality wax like, what I use poorboys Nattys paste wax

autoglym srp is ok but doesn't really have that much bite. menzerna intensive polish has far more and can be lsp ready after hand or machine polishing. apply it with the white side of a german applicator pad and then buff off once you've worked it clear.
then to seal the poorboys natty's paste waxes are great. they smell like bubble gum too. all depends how much you want to spend really?
you can get acrylic based products that have fillers in them that will mask the swirls and give the protection and shine all in one go.

Based on best value alone, I would agree with Matt and Darren and go with Menzerna Intensive Polish (to do the correction) followed by Poorboy's Natty's Blue Paste Wax. Pound for pound, I can't think of anything better than Natty's Blue, and Intensive Polish is one of only a handful of polishes that can actually correct Subaru paint quite well when working by hand...
