My first detail
After buying loads of stuff from Polished Bliss and having a practice on my £1500 eBay Soarer, I finally did the full job today.
No "before" photos as I've been doing various bit with it, so it doesn't really show the full transformation and the "after" photos aren't in the best light and don't do the glossiness or depth of finish any justice at all, but suffice to say I'm VERY happy with the results for my first attempt, but I'm totally knackered.
Routine was:
Rinse with gentle stream from the hose
Wash with 2 bucket method and Zymol Auto Wash using a natural sponge
Rinse again with hose
Dried with a chamois leather (need some waffle weave!)
Clayed using the Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay kit
Polished with Porter Cable and Menzerna's Final Finish (106) on a DAS Blue pad
Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Acrylic applied with Porter Cable and DAS Green pad, left for half an hour to cure, then buffed off with a mist of Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Glos and the polishing bonnet on the Green pad
Finally, 2 coats of Jeffs Werkstatt Jett Trigger applied by hand with a microfibre cloth and buffed by hand.
Ideally, I should have started with a heavier cutting compound and a firmer pad (I have a DAS Orange pad for the job) but wanted to learn the basics before really attacking the paint. There's some defects I didn't shift, but I'll get them with practice
I want to thank Polished Bliss for a) being a really excellent company to deal with for buying stuff and b) having a great website with lots of great, clear advice.
Comments, advice etc. welcome.

Looks good...
Jump on Detailer's World for loads of tips and info....
Get some waffle weaves, the Sonus der wonder towels are meant to be amazing.
Have a look at Snowfoaming...looks great and the neighbours think youre mad!
Ive been advised to stay away from the Megs clays so maybe pick something different....
How did you find the Porter Cable? Where did you get it from?
Go on...show us some beading

Got the Porter Cable off ebay with the transformer and pads with it. Actually, they're Sonus pads, now I come to think of it. It's fairly easy to use but vibrates like a bitch. I did 2 passes on each panel on speed 2 to "work" the polish, then did 4 to 6 passess on speed 4 to get the finish in the pictures.
No beading yet, although it did rain when I was half way through the Jeff Werkstatt stages Luckily it cleared up, so I just dried the car off and carried on.

I'm glad im not the only one doing this, i was getting worried i'd gone OCD.
There is a jeep in the car park at work today and i can see the swirls when the sun is at the right angle, getting some odd looks for checking all the panels.
Nice work on the soarer

Great work on the Soarer above, getting some decent depth into the paint now. Once your arms have recovered, try to get a few more coats of the Jett on over the next couple of weeks. Once you get to more than 4-5 the paint really slicks up, giving much tighter beading and a lot more gloss. Keep the layering going and you will see the finish getting better and better.
