Today (Yawn) I decided to give my car a bit of attention and also to try out my newly aquired foam lance with SSF from Elite care care.
Here she is slightly dirty

First job was to tackle the alloys. I got out the jack, 2ft braker bar and wheel key and set about jacking the car up and removing the alloys. I started with the n/s front wheel.

As you can see...lots of brake dust. But thankfully, I have looked after these alloys rather well and since I have had them refurbed (remember that thread of mine with this shot? http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...n-/Imagine.jpg) I have aplied wheel sealant to them.
So I mixed up a bucket with PB Super slick and suds and using a Megs MF mitt and set about removeing the brake dust. Hoesing off the lose surface dust, then getting 'in there' with the mitt. Then re hoseing off. Then repeating this method again and also using one of my parents tootbrushes

(Could do with something better than a tootbrush for getting into the nooks and crannies. remomend me anything?)
Then I dried them with my Megs water magnet.
Once dry I applied PoorBoys Wheel sealant - the pink stuff to the alloys with megs applicator pad. Applied both sides of the alloy to cure (i think you call it) then I buffed off with a MF cloth.
A jiffy later...hay preto

Whislt I was waiting for the sealant to cure I cleaning and polished the Mcgard black lugs and centre cap

Before I put the wheel back, I hosed and cleaned the arch, KYB Strut and 2 pots.
Before

Wheel back on - after

The fronts take about 25 mins each - thats just cleaning, drying and applying the sealant. The rears with drums take about 15 mins.
Lunch brake
Back to work and cover alloys with black plastic bin liner ready for stage 2.
Its snowing...yay...

This was fun. I wonder if the neighbours thought it was snowing??. Anyhow. I allowed this to work its magic for about 3 minutes before I hosed it off.
I then set about washing the car with the two bucket method with PG Superslick and Suds in CG wash bucket with grit guards.
I then hosed of the car and dried it using Sons blue drying towles.
Next was to polish it and try and remove/hide some of the light scratches. For this I used AG SRP applied with a blue MF clolth. Allowed to cure for about 6 mins then wiped off with another clean MF cloth.
I then got out the wax to seal it all. For this I used the wonderful Poorboys Nattys paste wax...yum yum.
This I left on for 10 mins With great effect. I removed it with the PB dulxe mega towel.
Mirror mirror on the car who is....you get the idea

After I had buffed off the wax, I sprayed the tyres with Megs tyre shine. Wiped off excess.

polished the H&S exhaust with Autosol and a MF Cloth. this took me 10 mins on its own, but well worth it.
Also I polished the windows with AG Glass Polish - I really like this product far far better than Megs nxt glass cleaner.
Hovered the interior and washed the front foot mats - Drivers and passengers. Drivers one was very dirty. Got out PS21 all purpose cleaner and washed them and allowed to dry.

(New seats btw since last detail thread of mine)
In total it took me five and a half hours from start to finish. But all worth it untill next time.
--------
When I went to the Silverstone F1 test a taxi drive throught up from his tyres what must of been a big rock did this to my n/s passenger door

Have got quoted 260 plus vat for a coachwork job as it can't be pulled out as I have had a dentmaster (who does work for Aston Martin) and get could not do it because of the box section behind the door. So its a fill and paint job.

Great work, and great write up. Megs Triple Duty Detail Brush is spot on for wheel crevices and the like, one of the handiest brushes in my kit for sure. Shame about the ding, cest la vie, Clark has a similar problem on his drivers side door, box section preventing normal route to repair. And, I do the same thing with bin bags sometimes, glad to know I'm not the only one lol!
