Default can you over use a clay bar on a car?

i use the meguirs clay bar that comes in a pack with the detailer and to be honest it comes out virtually every time i wash the car to get off tar spots.

just wondering if i'm doing any long term damage using it all the time or is it a product you can use safely whenever you want?
