Hi lads,
I've always done my polishing by hand but im never overly happy with the results, and its hard work too, so im wanting to switch to a PC, but i've got quite a lot of questions because i dont know too much about them
In my garage i've got
Meg's wash mitt
Meg's Shampoo
Meg's chamios
Meg's polishing pads
Meg's Step 1 Paint cleaner
Meg's Step 2 Polish
Meg's Step 3 Carbnara wax (sp)
and a few extra Autoglym bits that im running out that shall be replaced with more Meguiar's as i have had better results with the Meg's.
Where do i want to be buying a PC from?
How much are they and what do i want to be spending?
Would the products i already have be ok to use with a PC?
Would i need different pads for using on each step? (cleaner, polish, wax)
How often to the pads need changing?
Are they reusuable/machine washable?
Would i need to use different speeds depending on which step im doing?
Sorry for all the questions, and help would be greatly appriciated

You will find alot of answers at detailingworld.co.uk,the PC also needs a transformer because of the 110v, a 110v plug so you can change the US plug.As for price i think it would cost around 120-130 area without the transformer.Originally Posted by MisterAdam

I would/did set myself 200 for extra bits from autopia which is worth it cos its cheaper plus they are import friendly so no taxes against you over here.
Anyway check out detailingworld.co.uk and go to the guide section it will explain a bit better............then Pm 182_Blue for a dicount code for autopia.

Just to add my 5p worth...
Best place to buy is Detailing Supplies, Car Wax, Car Polish, Polishers, Microfiber Towels, for the reasons Scudy gives: it's cheap, great service, no import duty, good aftersales care if anything goes wrong, etc. I'll pm you the discount code after posting this!
Best kit to buy (and it is a good idea to get a kit when starting out as it will save you money) is the Sonus DAS Kit, with orange, green and blue pads...
Porter Cable Car Polisher Kit - 7424 Polisher, Foam Pads, Bonnets
...as these pads work best on Scooby paint. In terms of products, ditch what you have in terms of the Megs 3 Step System and switch to Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish or Menzerna 106FF (both the same product), applied using the green pad at speed 4-5 after one pass at speed 1 to spread. Work until residue turns clear and then buff with Super Thick n Plush Towel. Follow up with a last step product (wax or sealant) that best suits your car; there's a lot of threads in this section showing the different finishes various products give, have a browse and see what you like. Also, be sure to spend a little time reading the guides on my webbie; they contain a lot of useful info!
