Never done interior gauages with it, but on headlights I always use a decent finishing polish, like Menzerna Final Polish II or Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish. I haven't ever tried them by hand on plastics though, always by machine, so my only reservation is whether you will be able to work them enough by hand to break down the fine abrasives properly to leave a perfect finish. Out of the two products mentioned, Final Polish II is the safer bet, as the abrasives in it are very fragile and easy to work by hand.
