Default Steering Wheel

what's the best way to protect the steering wheel on an 04 scooby? I suspect some of it is leather (thumb grip areas) but not sure about the other bits.

Obviously, don't want to make it slippery, but I'm concious that it spends a lot of time in the sun and then is manhandled by rough hands and rings.

I don't use anything on wheels other than a damp cloth - just not worth the risk of slipping hands.
