Default Restoring a cars shine

I have 2, yes 2 questions for you:
Q 1)
I have just picked up my impreza sport and the paint work looks a little dull and what would be the best way to restore with car detailing products.

Its a Dark Blue Mica.

I will use Meguiars shampoo and cond. plus Clear coat liquid wax. Would clay bar help to restore the paint. I have never use this, nor have I every seen it being used (by a professional).

Is most of the advice for this type of thing on your loverly w/site?

Any advice is helpfull. What order to do certian things in. I am probably (when the weather is nice) spend a good few hours (5-7) cleaning it.

Q 2)
Thats the out side done, now what is the best way to clean the dash and plastics, but I don't want to use those products that make it all shiny etc... Clean it, restore it.

...and I don't want to spend an arm or a leg for these products.

Cheers
Darren

As a fellow DBM owner I'd recommend a clay bar although visibly you wont see a huge improvement but the surface will be much smoother to touch and you'll see all the filth on the bar. Inspect your wheel arches and you probably find tons of tar spots. I've got the Meguairs clay bar which comes with a bottle of Quik Detailer as lubricant - this is also very good for the dashboard and other interior plastics without making it shiny.

You can better products - but at £15 for the two, it seems a bargain for the "clay bar non-beleivers".

How dirty was the clay bar when you'd finished then?

Bonnet looks fantastic BTW.
