Ok now that the sun has made an appearance I've noticed just how **** the finish on the top of the spoiler has become in such a short space of time (6 months). I notice a few blemishes after I'd had it a while but now it looks as if the whole of the lacquer surface is patchily wearing away.
So, do I take it back to Subaru and insist they sort it out or is there something I can use to bring the finish back....?
All I've used on the car is the standard Autoglym with Turtle Wax Gloss Guard.... nothing that's ever caused a problem on any other car I've had. And it's not as if I'm out polishing it every weekend either !!
Back to the dealer is my first instinct but has anyone had any experiences of this...?

Agreed, from what I've heard the plastics used on Subaru's degas over time, and this damages the overlying paint, causing fading and deterioration of the finish. I would check with Subaru first and see what they say. Can anyone else with direct experience of this (and who has had repairs done by Subaru) chip in?

Been into Subaru today and they said they hadn't see anything like it before but will start the process for a warranty claim.
Will post a pic when I get a mo so you can all see...

Jet washing your car can get water under any imperfections in the lacquer finish and cause this. Same happend to me on my previous Honda. I don't use the pressure washer on my impreza far to vicious for subaru paint.
Glad you got it sorted though.

OK some pics - apologies for the size of the pics but I needed the quality for it to be visible as the first ones didn't come out too well.
First, normal paint:

Now the top of the spoiler:

Apologies again for the size.
Looks really bad now, and is seriously getting worse :-(
