Clean engine
Hi guys looking at buying a wrx and am confused about something. There is a car for sale with 61k miles and engine is fillthy and one that has done 119k that looks new. Do I ignore the sparkling engine. It’s hard to make a decision when one looks like crap but says low mileage and one is high mileage but clean. Is the cleanliness smoke and mirrors?

Can’t disagree with that but the 60000 mileage one is half the mileage but engine is filthy the other which is double mileage is clean engined. It’s a bit of a head **** really as both drive well. Does a clean engine necessarily mean it’s been looked after any better or garage cleaning it up. So it’s clean engine v dirty engine half the mileage. I’m not trolling but it does mess your head up

Anyone can steam clean an engine, especially it is has oil leaks they want to hide. A grubby engine is fine if its general grime and any obvious leaks will be showing
