Having Problems on Scoobynet? Please read this!
Hello everyone,
Thanks for your patience during the current upgade. I have been told by many memnbers that they have login problems, speed issues and some have missing buttons too even though the buttons have NOT been removed from any memberships.
The IB content server we now go through seems to cause caching problems for some people who have used SN regularly, I am unsure why this is technically but I do know the problem is local to the user and simple to fix. The fix often brings substantial sped improvements too. This was proved beyond all doubt o PassionFord recently when many members refused to believe us and suffered for weeks until they gave in and followed our advice. The fix is as follows:
Perform the following tasks in this order:
1) Delete your temporary internet cache.
2) If you have login problems, delete your cookies too.
2) Turn off your PC.
3) Power off and back on your internet router.
4) Turn on your PC.
5) Reload scoobynet via this address only www.scoobynet.com. Do NOT use a stored link as this will cause you problems. Start afresh.
That should fix the majority of template and login problems people are seeing at the moment.

I did follow the above procedure, whilst adding a few items. Firstly, I deleted all bookmarks to ScoobyNet that I had. I then cleared my history and my browser cache, then quit the browser, deleted all cookies for *.scoobynet.* shut down iMac, power-cycled router, powered iMac back on, launched terminal and issued the dscacheutil -flushcache command to flush the DNS cache (probably not needed but what the heck).
I then accessed SN via the www link, whereas I'd usually use one of my bookmarks to jump to the specific forum I want to look at. In this case I then went to the forum listing, and selected Bugs / Features, then this topic. At that point I did see the RTM icon/button and the Online icon. These were the only icons/buttons that had been appearing seemingly randomly.
I thought I'd try a few things, so I copied the URL to the thread, cleared the history and cache, and reloaded the page by pasting the URL in the address bar. The thread loaded but the RTM button/icon was missing.
I cleared the cache and history again, and did things the proper way; Loaded www.scoobynet.com then clicked on Forum Listing, then selected Bugs / Features, and then viewed this thread. The online icon was present but the RTM icon was not.
I tried a force refresh on the thread, still no jot, RTM icon not present.
I then followed the steps exactly as you mentioned and repeated my tests with the same results.
It's possible it could just be a Safari thing. I'm about to try Firefox 3 and see how that stands up to things and will report back.

Just tried the same with Firefox 3 and I'm seeing similar issues.
My setup is as follows:
Early 2006 Intel iMac running Mac OS X 10.5.6. Browsers are: Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1) and Firefox 3.0.6

I can do all of the above, apart from reboot the router at work
Even though I am the boss, I cannot do it, as it will affect lots of other companies (shared connection)
it is marginally quicker today (down from 14 seconds to 10 seconds)
