Default Are the number of adverts on scoobynet.....

Having just watched my screen stutter under the load of 4 moving adverts at once, thought I'd gauge the group's thoughts in a poll (hopefully this thread isn't moved to a dark corner of the site).

I wouldn't mind if they were car related, but at the minute this thread is showing me a CIALIS advert - FFS, it took me years to get rid of those from my inbox.

Very dull.

The one on the right really pi55es me off. The top ones are OK because I just scroll down and ignore them.

Does membership still provide the option to remove all adverts?

I just saw one for 'wedigtv' (or something like that). It had Noel Edmonds face on it.

Quite frankly, this is unacceptable.

I'm seeing three distinct adverts. One at the top, one at the side and one at the bottom. I'm only really noticing the one at the side because the forum style isn't respecting the "Full width" option I've set in my profile, so things are being squashed to fit the width of the main site banner.

** edit **
If there is a forum sponsor then at the top I'm seeing two things, one being the ad, the other being the sponsor logo.

I should also state I'm not counting the Scoobysprint banner in the "count", if I do then it's four when there isn't a forum sponsor and five when there is.

edit your Host file and add all the adultfriendfinder.com and doubleclick.g.googleads.com cr4p to it -- resolving them all to a NULL iip address

I don't see that many adverts TBH. Thats because I am least interested in any of them. I am more interested in the threads and posts (they seem to take more than 60% of the page), so that is what I see. I haven't seen even one animated advert (I only looked for them just before posting this post), now that would have been a bit annoying. But I am afraid, its all looking ok this end. Perhaps I have a system installed that f**ks all the glittery adverts off , which is good
Perhaps not.
I dunno.

giving me lots of grief at work.

For whatever reason the page will hang for ages trying to get a response back from an advert url (however due to my companies firewall and security policies this process hangs the whole page).

Firefox doesn't work at all, just hangs on one of the ads on here and eventually times out.

I don't the get the issue at home however I still find the adverts annoying and being a Web Developer I detest them but I understand the need for em coz dey make cash money init?!

Why can't sites like SNet just have one page dedicated to adverts, for those people who have an Advert fetish, they can simply pop over to this page and rub their body parts on the screen as they are hypnotised by the array of multi-coloured spam.. I mean ads (and come on, who on SNet doesn't by now...).

What I haven't see to date is a static page where SNet has a list of all the well known suppliers (with their respective logos, brand line/sales quote and a link and telephone numbers... in a list format on a single page.

I drank lots of coffee so my brain is a bit smart right now

PS: I have had another look. I think I know which moving adverts some people are talking about. It is those Credit Expert ones, aren't they? It hardly distracts me, nor does it grip me. Saying that, if the orange mobile strip on that advert is hurting your eyes, put some shades on when you come on Scoobynet. Job done

Just use Adblock & Noscript plug-ins for Firefox, seems to do the trick for me anyway.

So does this "upgrade" basically mean more ads or is there something I'm missing?

Pretty much any website loads instantly on my laptop - our broadband is really quick. However this website is now loading more slowly - to the point of being a pain.

Not much point enabling the site for more ads if it means users get narked and sod off...

a) can't believe you moved my post again. are you scared of real-time feedback from your users? again - most won't come into this area.

b) the link you've posted takes forever to load. great.

performance has been poor since you guys took over - this site only has value if it has a wide group of active users. be careful not to abuse that - I'll give you a few days to sort the performance but, if it doesn't improve, I for one won't be back.

Yours currently very dissatisfied.

i've managed to block all of the adverts on the side/bottom of the page, and some of the smaller ones too

has anyone successfully blocked the Scooby Sprint Championship advert at the top of every page? It takes up so much space!! when i adblock the image, it only blocks the background image and there are a load of links on top and text left there taking up the screen

All my ads are now gone thanks to the hosts file hack, bit of a pain as I use that file for work previews and its now a big file, but at least the ads are all gone!!

Can still see the SSC banner but that doesn't bother me as its relevant.
