I have turned them all off, so why do I still have the ones holding up the main forum page?

Might move this to policy, might get a reply there?

Why the hell do Admin ignore things?

Just a simple "We're looking into it" etc would sufice.

That's seemingly too much trouble though.

Another case of "**** em"?

Micky,

The reason that this one doesn't get removed is that you dont have the option to remove ALL Google Adverts.

From the User CP the following is avalaible to SN Plus members -

Banner Advert Display Options
ScoobyNet is a very expensive site to run. It costs ScoobyNet money, every time you load a page. In order to help cover these costs, we deliver advertising to those pages.

ScoobyNet Plus subscribers, however, pay an annual or monthly fee for added benefits, and we have allocated part of that fee to cover the costs of the pages that member loads. As such, we have provided, as a thank you, the ability to customise how you see the advertising.

We strongly recommend retaining as much of the adverts as possible, because there are often very interesting offers and products, which are - in the main - tailored to your inerests as best we can. But if you would prefer to switch them off, you are more than welcome to, and we thank you for your support.

These settings will only take affect for ScoobyNet Plus Subscribers. To Subscribe to ScoobyNet Plus click here.

RH Banner
The tall banner on the right hand side of most pages, including the forum pages

Footer Banner
The Google Adsense Banner at the bottom of thread pages.

Top Banner
The small banner in the very top of each page, above the menu.

At no point in here is there an option to remove the advert that you are talking about on the 'Forum Home' page.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thank you for the reply, and copy and paste.

I class the google ad at the bottom of the page as a footer, so surely turning them off should remove it.

I neither want, nor need google ads, so since I pay; I should be able to have no adverts at all.... That is what I beleive this feature was meant for?

Sort of defeats the objective if I cant get rid of it via my user CP.

Can this be added to the other footer adverts that I have turned off. I don't want to see it, I've live long enough to know what I want to see, and I've paid for SN+ for long enough.

There's a saying, "You get what you pay for." Not seemingly on SN.

Could the settings please be changed so that this remaining google ad is removed if the footers are turned off.

Thanks.

Micky.

Hello Mick,
For once, im going to admit your right. I did see this post just before i went to hospital and spent a whole day having various unpleasant brain scans.

Replying to this would have made me late for an appointment that I am hoping will alleviate a lot of pain, so I am guilty as charged because i did, as your suspect think, "**** it, I will do it later"

Then I forgot.
You have my appologies although i think its a little excessive to say i have been ignoring things as I dont see many complaints about me on this forum.

So, onto your request.
Yes, I will make a request to IB Webteam to see why this is happening.

Please clarify, ideally with a screenshot, which ads your seeing as IB Webteam cant replicate the problem at their end.

Stu,

I think Mickey means the single Google Banner ad at the bottom of the Forum List page.

Maybe, but i would like it clarified as I cant see why that one would bother anyone at all as its not actually in any of the forums.

Stu,

You have my most sincere apologies. I wasn't aware you were unwell, and wish you a speedy recovery from whatever is discovered by your local neurology department.

I have this to (not)look forward to as a concerned other, it's not nice.

Sell the BMW and you'll be as right as rain, I reckon.

It is the Google ad at the very bottom of the forum page that narks me, but, fuck it, there's more important things in life.

Thanks for the reply.

Ian, theres no 'e' in Micky. Do you lot have a basic literacy/reading test?
