Can't see post once I have responded to it
If I respond to a post/question and then click new post after I cannot see the post this happens at work as well as my home PC.

Ok here goes, someone posts a question I write a response to it and click submit response. I then click on new posts and the post I responded to I cannot see. I have to go the relevent section, ie general tech to see the post.

OK.. We don't have a "submit response" button as far as I can tell. But reading between the lines I think you're saying...
That when you reply to a thread, your reply does not appear in the list you get to by clicking "New Posts" in the nav bar list at the top next to "Live Feed".
If so, then this shouldn't be the case. So I need more information. This is why I asked for EXACT info.
For example.
In order to post this reply.
From the Forum Home Page, I clicked on the "Bugs and Feature Requests" forum link. I think clicked on the link to the thread "Can't see post once I have responded to it", I then scrolled to the bottom and typed this text into the "Quick Reply" box, and then pressed "Post Quick Reply"

The reason I'm asking for this kind of detail is that almost anything could be happening here. It could be somethign to do with the specific forum you're posting in, etc, etc. So if you please give me as much detailed info (and a specific example if you can), that would be great.

Sorry I mean post quick reply.

Correct
Ok here goes again I click on new posts, someone has a question "will a dump valve make my car faster" I click on the blue quote button and respond saying " no you plonker it won't"
I then click post quick reply, next I click on new posts and the thread I responded to is not there, well it is but I can't see it. If someone else responds to the dump valve question I can then see the post inc my response on the new posts page.
If I want to see post after I have responded to it I have to go the forum it is in ie: general tech etc.
Once I have finished typing this I will click post quick reply but in order to see it I will have to to the bugs section rather than clicking new posts.
This is happening on my work PC as well as my home one.
Hope that helps

This happens on another site I go on. I have only noticed the change on here recently. But from my experience on the other site, its basically a feature that doesn't show you the post you have read in new posts. If you look in your user CP, all of your other subscribed threads are probably showing as unread, but once you read them, then go back, they are gone. So by creating a new thread, or replying, its showing that you have read the post, so it won't show in new posts.

Right..
Thank you Joey, that pointed me in the right direct.
We have recently made a change, which *should* make things better in the long run. We are storing your read items in the database.
What this means is that the forum acts in the same way as your email inbox.
But Joey is absolutely right, if you've read a thread, it will not appear on New Posts, as the function of "New Posts" is to show you new posts that you haven't read.
If you think about it, there is absolutely no reason to see your post in that list.
This still needs tweaking as there are elements of the behavior which are not ideal. But this will be better in the long run. I urge you to see whether you can get used to the new behavior, but if you think you really can't, then please let me know the reasons why you would prefer the old way.
Cheers

Ok I see what you are trying to do here and yes I see that by making the posts that you have just read unlisted, like your read items in email, then it flows better. However I dont think that works well for your new posts. because they are just one post long (before replies) and as such should be treated as unread, because you made the post but didnt read it.
if you then go and read it, then it should become read and be counted as all the other threads.
apart from that small glitch, it all looks fine.
