Question Bug or new feature?

When each page loads, it seems to load the top part of the page (with the advert) almost instantly. However the rest of the page takes several seconds to load - anything up to 5 seconds.

As I spend much of my time on SN at work, I have found myself alt-tabbing to another window each time a go to a new SN page. When I alt-tab back, I can then scroll down to the content, which looks more like it could be work related than the banner and advert etc.

If this is a feature to force me to look at the advert, fair enough, but at least reduce the wait.

I'm using IE7.

Any news on this? Is this happening for anyone else, or is it just me?

It's getting really annoying now and I can't believe no-one else finds it annoying.

Hi Jerome

Definitely nothing to do with forcing you to look at adverts. Its to do with how browsers render the page. It needs to load all the content within a section before showing you any of it. This is on the list to improve though as it can be better than it is now. We just have to get round to it.

Sorry for the inconvenience in the mean time.
