Whenever a person (for exposure reasons in "General" or simply because they got it wrong) posts a thread in the wrong forum, you can see it was moved because there's no number in "Views".

However, the thread title is still in the forum it was moved away from.

Why not move it away completely? It's basically the same as if it were still there, if you know what I mean...

Because then the poster can see where it's gone too, rather than going back into (eg) General, NOT seeing their thread and posting up another thread saying "Where's my thread gone?"

I know what you mean, but surely someone with a little bit of a brain can work out from the subject of their thread where it went?

As for posting threads like "where's my thread gone", it could simply be forbidden by making an addition to the posting rules posted a few days ago? Forbidden or restricted to the "Policy" forum or so. Right?

No, I was just not in this forum last night.

I agree that people SHOULD be able to work out where the thread went, ONCE they know how the site works. For newbies who turn up and post something which is then moved (for example a policy question, or a "Hi I'm X and I can get you great discounts on Scooby Products from HERE"), there are an awful lot of forums to then troll through hoping to find it.

Add to which that the majority of people who post "Where's my thread gone" are along the same lines as the "Why did you lock my thread" genre. Neither of which are necessary, both of which get posted with alarming regularity.

Forbidding a "Where's my post gone" thread is a bit harsh, IMHO. SOME people are genuinely confused as to where something's been moved off to and I've seen a couple of threads in other forums which really have no relevance to that particular place, but are left.

I agree with you

With better board software, you can simply PM people and tell them where the thread went after deleting / moving it, keeps the board clean

Yes Claudius.
