Those of you who have run your STi's in, did you just go for it after the 1000m service or did you do a gradual build up?
I'm not sure which oil Lancaster Sevenoaks use in the engine, have any of you got any thought on what is best.
Used to run my Cosworth on Mobil 1.
My Classic was always run on what Lancaster put in it which was I think semi synthetic.
Running in again, did anybody increase the rpm after 500 miles as per ProDrive's advice to Evo magazine

When I picked up my sti I was told that a running oil was used during the running in period,after the 1000 miles it was change to normal Shell oil and I have certainly not held back since.

 

At the 1000 mile service I got them to use Semi Synth rather than the fully synth. I did take take it a little easier for another 300-400 miles(never redlined it). Now done 2100 miles and it's storming along.

I'll get the oil changed to fully synth at about 6000 miles and every 5000 miles.

Apparently, using fully synth right away inhibits the running in process and can lead to leaky valve seals(something like that. I followed this process for my old MY00 and it never used a drop of oil in the 28 months I had it.

Your just finding it difficult to stay under the 4000 rev mark arn't you? I know how you feel, before you know it it's beeping as it gets to 3800...

Very frustrating when a Mondeo, etc is right up your rear...., you just have to "bite the bullet" and let them past.

 

At what stage do you all feel it's ok to drive it how you like?

ie redline 'odd' time 4-5K?
