OK Guys,

I need a favour!! Is there anyone in the Botley/Southampton area who wouldn't mind popping in to Sparshotts to take some digital pics of what remains of my engine. Needless to say, anyone who helps will never have to buy another drink at any Southern region Scooby meets ever again, or can claim some other suitable reward.

I'm absolutely steaming at the moment because for the last three weeks, I've been told that Subaru Deutschland have been holding up the warranty authorisation. It turns out today that Sparshatts have never photographed the damaged parts so there was no way that Germany could give the authorisation. So for 3 weeks nothing has happened, other than Sparshatts taking the engine apart and providing a diagnosis. The same diagnosis that I had made within 15 seconds of opening the bonnet. 'Nuff said on that!

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I may be able to pop in one day this week, and photograph the engine/bits. I assume this would be with the agreement and co-operation of Sparshatts.

Anyway, If you can get hold of Sparshatts today and somehow confirm it to me, I shall nip over on the way home. I will turn up there at 4.30 with digital camera in hand

(Hope I checked the batteries !!)

I can take about 25 ish Photos I think max, but this should be plenty I presume. If you could get them to sort of lay all the actual damaged parts out (ie block / piston whatever) as I ain't no expert on this an probably wouldn't know what was broke and what wasn't !!!

Thanks very much for this. Maybe now someone somewhere will pull their finger out and get this sorted. I can't work out whether to include a smiley or a sad face in this post. Gary please make sure that you drop me a line before the next Scooby day that you go to and we'll sort something out. I'll let you all know what happens with the car. All this 'cos some muppet didn't tighten a bolt properly!

When I went too take the pictures I didn't know what to expect, I saw the block first with the imprints in them and it didn't register for a second that they had been caused by ramming into the valves

You can't really see how deep the impressions are or the fact that the valves are actually bent. Ho hum.

I couldn't get a picture of anything else Tony, but if you need anything just give me a ring. I assume the ones above will be of adequet resolution but I'll keep the high res originals just in case.
