Which Would You Choose ???
OK....
Having been out of the game a while (see how long Ive been a member folks), I'm looking to do a trackday once a month, Spa & the Ring 3-4 times a year... and poss use the said car for a nice blast now and again....
So....
3 weeks ago I bought a mint P1, one owner, gen 51k, forged engine via TSL with all the right bits, internals, turbo etc giving 345bhp & 365 ft lb torque, since I bought it ive put a set of AP 6 pots up front, 2 pot new age rear, new bushes, whiteline kit underneath and a new set of BC coilovers....
Lovely car... had a play at Oulton Friday and it was stonking....like the good old times...
My idea was to maybe lighten a little more...eventually go better turbo, injectors etc to take to circa 450/450....
However....last night another beastie was purchased....
A 2004 Spec C in white.... 6 speed DCCD, roof vent, bare bones of a car, no electric windows, lighter, 53k, BC coilovers, some nice mods (not internals, but they are good anyway) Bob Rawle recent map at 360bhp & 400 ft lb torque :-)
It needs a good set of brakes.... (have a set of 360mm APs in a box ready to go on)
My problem is a nice one.....
Which to choose ?
Spending money to further improve fortunately isn't an issue....
Long term both cars will be worth a little something....
I'm a Classic man at heart, however, the Spec C is dashing !
Any positive advise would be greatly welcomed before I give my mechanic the nod to start work on one of them Lol

I'd be wary of making the P1 into something it was not intended to be, if you get my drift. Keep it low mileage and mint, the forged internals are a recognised upgrade to stop them from blowing up and the AP brakes a commonly accepted bolt on way of improving the performance. Unmolested examples will go up in price, I'd avoid butchering it. And just enjoy it for the great car it is!
The Spec C is a car begging to be tuned in my opinion. For that reason I'd go nuts on it and enjoy doing so.

For the P1 I'd go for stronger gearbox and diff upgrade. Going for 6 speed DCCD box, prop and rear diff to suit. but would add weight and not be cheap also would devalue it.
i think as said above, the Spec C you'd be in a better starting place in the begining. further lightening, brakes, more power etc. money pit but mayebe better return on money spent.
at least you can try them back to back

My heart is Classic but I know the Spec C is the way to go....its good to get feedback from guys like you who are really in the know currently....
I found the P1 needed to be driven and nursed at Oulton though did feel a part of me Lol....but ready to break at anytime.... :-(
The Spec C today just felt easy, grown up, wanting to be abused to prove it could beat me Lol....
If you know what I mean

Lol.... Matty the RA was bought blind and driving it back down from Glasgow it just isnt for me Im afraid hence why I'll end up taking less than I paid.... The box out of the Spec C would fit just nicely as well ;-)
I have other cars so can't justify keeping both the P1 & Spec C....
I remember owning a mint white S202 back in 2003 and sold it to Neil Primrose, drummer out of Keane at the time..... Nice car....
Looks like monster APs are going on this tomoro....
Then Oulton Friday !

It did have some very nice brakes and wheels fitted which he took
Off it a few weeks back just after he brought it back from a good friend of mine. Very nice car overall with a nice balance she I went out in it. Defiantly my choice

Yea I saw a nice set of APs & rims on his other Subaru so assumed he'd probably taken them off.
I have a few spare sets of rims and a set of 330mm APs and a brand new set of 360mm APs
The Spec C's condition is excellent, I just need to put my own mark on it so if I keep it I'll do some nice subtle changes over winter in readiness for Spring.
Already got Spa booked with MLR in May :-)
