hi all i have been looking at buying a impreza sport unfortunately cannot afford insurance on a proper wrx, i have found one i like low mileage and on a 54 plate. only problem is the bloke says it has occasionally stuck in third gear when driven 'hard' normally this would put me off straight away but it is a nice tidy looking car and i am rather interested in it. so needs some help please is this fault likely to get worse and need a new gearbox if so how much is a box change likely to cost me? any help much appreciated thanks

 

I've never heard of a sport wearing out a gearbox. I'd be very wary.

 

Mine's similar, it's hard to get 1st to 3rd and when putting it in, there's a kinda crunch type feel at the lever, it's weird, mine's a 98 with 90000 and not alot owners either....I dont understand it either

There must be some right hard incopetant idiots that cant change gear

 

Mine's done 120,000 and no issues what so ever

 

I guess mine as the first had rough as fk previous owners
