Mini Front Mud Flaps, £10 per pair,inc VAT, from Robinsons Of Rochdale Subaru

Hello all,
In response to the people on this BBS that had previously requested that I could make and sell my own design mud flaps, this is to inform you that they are now commercially available from a Subaru dealer.
I previously had no desire to become involved in the sales and marketing of the mud flaps, and have only agreed to make them for Robinsons after they asked me if I could make some initially, for their customers cars.
These mini mud flap/stone protectors, are now available for £10 per pair including VAT, from Robinsons of Rochdale, Subaru Dealer, Tel 01706 716655.
They will do mail order.
They also have the equivilant item for the front of the 2001 WRX, for the same price, made from the same material, although a slightly different shape, which also attaches without the need for drilling the bodywork.
As far as Robinsons are aware, the 2001 WRX version mini mudflap is NOT available from anywhere else, except themselves.
These will stop the paint degredation caused by stones, at the bottom of the front wings, and the lower forward corner of the front doors.
It is usually very easy to see on the dark coloured cars, especially after you have polished them, and all the mass of tiny stone chips show up.

The instructions only showed me how to fit the right hand one, hence the left hand one is lent against the sill, until I can fathom out how to fit it.
Seriously now, the one lent against the sill is the shape of the item you would be supplied with from Robinsons, the one fastened to the car has a slightly differing profile, (prototype).
Fitting takes all of 4 minutes for both sides, and no drilling of the bodywork is required.
I do not have any photographs of the 2001 WRX mini mud flaps to show you, but one of their customers with a Sonic Blue ? WRX 2001 with 18 team Dynamics wheels, will very shortly be having his fitted, and he should be attending Northern Meet 5.
If I can get a photo before then, I shall post it.

MTR, have you sold out? Don't know you but I think of you as the king of DIY. £10 + vat from a dealer - surely these could be made from from a fairy liquid bottle for the price of a good kick up the ****??

I didn't really sell out, they asked me to supply them, with 2001 WRX, and MY94-MY00 styles, after seeing my original set on my old car when I part exchanged it for a brand new MY00 from them.
Isn't life strange.
Never thought of myself as an entrepreneur.

a)you can get them from any Scoob dealer
b)I found them piece of **** to fit (both sides)

You CANNOT buy THESE mudflaps from ANY Subaru dealer.
I manufacture them for Robinsons only.
They are NOT the Prodrive rubber flaps costing £20 per pair.
These were developed and fitted to my car, BEFORE Prodrive were offering their similar (but not the same shape, fitting, or material as mine) mudflaps for sale.
Additionally the mini flaps I have develpoed for the 2001 WRX are NOT available (according to Robinsons) from Prodrive, as yet, or anybody else for that matter.
They are however a doddle to fit, and stop the muck, and more importantly for myself, stop the stone damage that occurs at the bottom corner of the doors.
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding regarding these products.

And my design is more discreet and looks neater, for MY94-00.
That was also the opinion of one of the BBS members who swapped his Prodrive P1 flaps to my design flaps, using his own material.

After discussing the physical properties I required for the guards, regarding impact resistance and rigidity, with one of my collegues in the research department, we agreed that the material chosen would suffice.
Its a tongue in cheek reference to that 'research'.
Hence Aerospace developed.
And we do have a wind tunnel at the Warton site actually.
It was used by the Maclaren Team for developing their cars, but I somehow don't imagine the company would be overly keen on lending the facility out for mud flap evaluation.

I have just received my new stone chip guards.
And will be fitting them tomorrow.
they should pay for themselves in no time
in t-cut, elbow grease, and knee pads used
removing stone chips and tar marks every week

Robinson's? Golly.
I have the original reserve prototypes in radar reflecting aircraft grade plastic on my MY00.
They are far more discreet than the, ahem... "Gene Autry's saddle bags" I have seen attached to some of our member's vehicles.
Chappers old bean, I suspect you have some grist to mill on this subject.
I can confirm 2 things
1) They reduce the amount of $hite up the lower wing and
2) they add around 12bhp to the performance. (Source:bhp groundlessclaptrap group).
Oh and
3) Unusually for anything to do with an IMpreza, they are VFM.
and
4) they have a fanatical devotion to the pope.
Nobody expects.......... etc.

As it was my mums birthday today,I let her
fit my new stone chip guards to my 93wrx
as a special treat,
and it only took her 4mins 28secs.
Bit longer than MTR.s estimated fitting time
but she is 56, NOT BAD MUM & happy birth

Nice one. Just been across them there hills to Rochdale and procured me some of your flaps. Fitted in no time and will be unaffected by all the bleedin' speed humps.

Sorry mate I don't know.
I made the flaps to align with the mountings on of their customers cars, but didn't fit them.
Just call Robinsons, and speak to Nick or Dorian in spares, and they should be able to confirm how to remove the fitting.

I picked my new 2001 WRX yesterday and also nipped over to Robinson's to get the mudflaps - I have a question how do you get the ******* bottom screw out? (the one that appears to hold the side-sill on)- I can get the top ones out (you just have to quarter turn the screw and it pops out)but I cannot get the bottom one out!
Any help greatly received
