Default I want Prodrive P2 flutter!

Hello all,

Just been watching the episode of top gear where they review the awesome prodrive p2.

this one for people who havent seen it:

It has some awesome turbo flutter/compressor surge which you can hear at about 1 min 10 sec which Jeremy says comes from the waist gate they use but I always thought it was from deleting the dump valve??

Anyway, I want it!! it sounds awesome lol, does anyone run anything like this?

fit an induction kit, fmic and run dv less.

it will sound similar, whether you have a turbo strong enough to take it depends on the turbo you have fitted.

So is it just compressor surge then? I was already looking into it. im going to be changing turbos soon anyway and leaning towards either an 18g or 20g td05 and apparently they are ok with it.

i never thought of that. if u recirc an aftermarket BOV do you get compressor surge then?

Thinking about it, it would recirc all the air so would work pretty much the same as deleting it?

I wouldn't have thought so...I think it's just the noise the SSQV makes, just alot less whoosh-ting because it's not VTA.

Deffo not the same as deleting it.

now if this could be mixed with the brz then that's a Subaru I would buy. all the scoobys I like are between 1993-2005, think they need to create a desire with the newer range

As tommy said, induction kit does the job, don't make your self look like a Chav and kill your performance

Cool

Does sound a bit similar to my hawk, running a Forge dump valve.... Sorry the video's a bit poor and was taking it VERY easy (don't think I took it past 3500rpm!)... It gets a whole lot LOUDER when I'm actually giving it some proper revs/boost!!!

Enjoy....

sounds mint mate

whats the spec to achieve that? does the dv have a really hard spring in it to make it not dump at low boost and flutter instead?

you can get a kit that attaches to the front of the DV with a hose that you take down to the standard resurc hose.

thats just a very quick search but you get the idea

Its running a huge Hyperflow FMIC and Forge 4010 VTA which is actually still too small for his setup as it cant quite dump enough air quick enough to avoid a slight stalling of the compressor, might even have to run a dual VTA setup to get this spot on. However it will still retain the flutter at lower boost levels.

Its a very quick motor, 400/425 with a VF43 on V-Power.

awesome man, i been fighting with whether to get a td05 20g or a vf43, think the main difference is the 20g has more top but the vf spools quicker.

i didnt think you could run dv delete with vf turbos though as they dont like it?

Seems like a nice FMIC is the key to getting the sort of high pitch flutter like he has though.

To be honest I never chase figures, instead I aim to get the best out of what I have or can afford. The increased volume of charge air within a FMIC is the starting point for getting the flutter noise you are after, it is not necessary to blank the DV port to achieve the flutter, just don't dump all the charge air on lift off, this can be set by adjusting DV spring rates etc. My personal choice is to have a VTA matched to the charge air setup, I have yet to find a better way of getting a more aggressive and relentless drive through the gears.

Cheers Iain

I make those bov adaptor plates, so if you have a fmic and wanted to use your existing re circ valve it bolts straight to it
Or can make it a plain ally plate to blank the DV off

I'm running dv less with one of white noises kits, it chatters but I don't run enough boost to chatter so clearly. My old s14 chattered in a similar way to the p2 though with its bigger t28

The chatter can be achieved at very low boost levels < 0.5 Bar with a FMIC.

That's because there is considerably less charge air with a tmic than a fmic, more air more chatter.
