thickness on a oem flywheel? 5spd
So how thick is the oem flywheel on a impreza gc8 turbo with 5speed gearbox and weight? The reason i ask is that i bought a lightened oem flywheel on ebay and i want to se if there are any difference in thickness.
Thanks

Don't think (from memory) my lightened one was any thinner, its the material used that reduces its weight. The oe one was bloody heavy in comparison, however I preferred the drive with the oe one so removed my light one and sold it.
Ah so you mean the material that has been taken out from the flywheel is not on the area where the pressureplate and disc are? This is the flywheel i bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item3cd42fbe13
That's just an oe item that's been skimmed to death. In theory it would work, however the longevity of the item is to be desired somewhat. !! Lol.
ESP after a few launches.
If you want a lightened flywheel, go with a reputable supplier I.e. exedy ect.

Standard flywheels are 10.5kg , I skim them and customers have wanted them machined to 6.5kg and have been running these with no problems on standard and modified engines
I suppose paying £300 for a billeted one from one of the top suppliers makes sense if you wanting to pay for a name and functionality over and above safe limits
But I charge 1/4 of that and had no problems with those i have supplied for the cash strapped amongst us lol

I would think you will be fine with a oem flywheel that's lightened
As you are not hiking up the power or torque massively
Some may disagree , bit ive had more than 15 happy and still happy customers with my lightened flywheels !
