101 cars + 1 motorbike at Northern Meet 5, Birch Services M62, 10 Oclock, 29Th April
Hello all,
Given the numbers of probable attendees, I will require your cooperation in dispatching the groups of cars, in batches of 10.
For those that attended NM4, you will be familiar with what I will try and do.
When the car park starts to get quite full, and before we create any kind of nuisance to the patrons of Birch Services, I will ask you to stand next to your cars (not quite drivers start your engines, but).
I will then pick ten cars, 2 or 3 specials + 7 or 8 Imprezas, and issue routes to the owners.
At this point I need the selected bunch to get on their way IMMEDIATELY.
Not screeching off, but a nice smooth timely departure.
I will then wait approx 3 minutes and repeat the excercise, to intentionally break up what would otherwise become a BIG traffic jam of our own making.
I would ask that given the very high numbers PLEASE drive in a sensible manner, paying particular attention to 30 MPH zones.
On Kev and Walkers Midlands Tamworth run I went on last year, in the 30 zones we all did dead on 30 MPH.
We could all have a very pleasant cruise, with a controlled turn of speed (ie legal)in the right area, and hopefully not create animosity with the general public.
If we allow it to degenerate into a wacky races scenario, the chances of repeating a similar event would become less likely, due to Police intervention.
I have chosen roads that should be rewarding to drive, with spectacular scenery, without the need for ANYBODY to lose their Licenses,
or have a crash.
I trust we can all have a memorable day, for the right reasons, and you all ENJOY
yourselves.
Cheers MTR

Hello MTR
I'm looking forward to what promises to be a really good day out!
The groups of ten sound a good idea.
I think are two bikes attending? My mate Hugh is going on his V reg R1, I think I mentioned it when I brought up the other Corse? There is also Ducati Dave. hope this helps,
Cheers, Bob

Just a suggestion, but if any attendees need to re-fuel, they can they do it _before_ they leave (in their tens), otherwise there will be a mad queue at the pumps and MTRs bunching will be ruined.
I presume that you can re-fuel and return to the parking (MTR?).

Boomer,
I have just phoned up, the girl didn't know, so she put me through to the petrol station.
The girl ther didn't know either, so she put the shift manager on the phone, ang guess what, he didn't know!!!
Well to be honest at first he said yes, then he thought about it and said NO.
Most definately 'not the sharpest knife in the drawer' if you get my meaning.
I will have to have a close look this weekend, but from memory, I don't think you can LEGALLY do it. Although the road is 2 way for part of its length, I think once you reach the Truck stop car park section, it becomes one way, heading to the fuel station then the motorway.
But I am not 100%
If anybody knows for sure, please post on here.
Cheers MTR

Last call for Northern Meet 5.
See you all tomorrow, come rain or shine. (and there will probably be a bit of both).
You CANNOT legally leave the carpark, fill with petrol, and return to the carpark.
You would have to drive through a NO ENTRY sign, right outside Greater Manchester Police Traffic Division Motorway Headquarters!!! on Birch Services.
Probably not a good idea.
Cheers MTR
