Default vf43 or vf48

im taking my impreza up in power again, currently running 354bhp with a vf35 and want around 380 bhp, which would spool the quickest and which is the more reliable unit? i think i read somewhere that the vf43 is one of the weaker vf turbos but unsure how true it is

its a blob wrx with sti8 engine,rcm headers/up-pipe,650cc injectors,sti top mount,rcm induction kit,rcm fuel pump etc

running what you are on the road i dont believe you be gaining much more than a figure , what you got is probably a near perfect all rounder for the road .

You have already 354bhp there and really VF43 or VF48 can be spool slower on yours, those turbo works better on 2.5L or on 2.0L with AVCS

what Jura said, I have previously run a vf48 on a 2.0L and was good, probably the smoothest power delivery I have had out of any turbo but it is better suited to the 2.5 engine and can be near 400lbs on the 2.5 probably realistically around the 350-380 on a 2.0L dependant on mods and so on, as all the vf's though can be prone to cracks around the wastegate, mine had a very small hairline crack but during mapping Duncan it said it held boost better than he had seen on any.
have to say though I do like a 35

you would be better off spending the money on getting your avcs working as it will make the car more driveable than an extra 20 ish bhp changing to a slightly bigger more laggy turbo.
