ran one for a while tbh , never had it miss anything, it actually came in handy when a tw*t reversed into me in a car park(B&Q) then tried to say it was me who hit him,

when ever I back it up I always leave the last recording on the card, and if your out for a play always carry a spare SD card "just in-case" in the sun visor slip.

Wouldnt mind one of these myself, ive nearly hit a few cyclists this past month with them having no regard for road rules pulling out of the cycle lane without looking or caring whats on the road. I can imagine if I hit one of them it'll be my fault.

I can see these things taking off massively over the next few years as they come down in price. I had one of the cheap chinese ones as a stocking filler a couple of years ago, didn't last long, battery died and couldn't find a replacement anywhere.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Get a decent one if you're serious about it.

these come with a lead so you can pick up a 12v feed,I picked up a feed in the interior light,
From 7days shopping it was £25, SD cards are cheap as chips, not sure how much cheaper you want them lol
I havent got the infra red leds on mine, Im not sure if these will reflect or anything off a windscreen.

The infrared in my cheapo chinese one was ok, as long as your headlights are on it's not bad, not brilliant but you can see what's happened, you just can't see detail like number plates, etc.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Riida is that problem specific to the that camera or all of them (if you know that is)

47NAT could you possibly post the some videos when you get it up and running please.

I'm simply wanting one as the amount of **** poor driver on our roads is increasing and i'm already under a personnal injury claim by a cyclist.

I started reading about incar cameras when I saw this thread. I've been thinking about getting one for a while. These cameras seem to get a good write up, and also have GPS features etc:

The title of the second clip kind of gives it away......

I've got Blackvue 400's in our cars & they've been faultless.

Blackvue seem to be one of the premium brands. There's a lot of cheap ones out there that I can't comment on.

The Blackvue cameras use micro SD and there is software for them for Windows & Mac. You can watch video straight off the cards, but the software links to GPS & maps and also directional G readings etc.

I've got a couple of different models of Blackvue's and they've been excellent. In practice I tend to check the recorded footage every month (to check it’s working) and format every 3-4 months, this should be sufficient. I don’t think the Blackvue is the only camera that requires regular formatting of the card.

Ideally you need a stealthy fitment camera, that is discrete enough not to need removal from the car. I would avoid anything that is overly obvious.
I’m keeping an eye on the Ras pi camera currently in development, might be useable for in-car use.

Quick update I went for the DR380G-Hd (bought from amazon £168.98 including p+p) and did a little test run and have to say I think it's very good nice clear images will give it more of a test over the weekend but think it will help with highlighting the **** drivers we have on our roads and hopefully keep myself and my car a little more protected if anything does happen.
