Default Help, my mistake with 04 Sti, had for 1day.

I have been posting for the past day as i think i didn't check the car that i brought properly or i got sucked into the performance.

Well i knew that the car was engine wise sound as i had the car checked by Cams Performance and it just had the major service and cambelt kit. I also knew it had a few parking dents and marks on the front bumper.

This where it gets bad well, its making me feel a bit negative towards a new car.

The dents i have had fixed today so thats fine.

Both number plate bulbs are not working. I have changed to led but how did it pass an mot and should i be scared?

Coolant in the reserve tank was only just above low. Brought some coolant from dealer today to fill, but its another negative mark and its only just been serviced?

There's was a knock from the passenger side rear which i have heard once at very low speed making right turns. Only happened once and i think its just the grease on the rear shocks.

Dashboard bulb has gone so i can't see some of the revs counter and speedo at night. Tubbytommy in leicester will be helping me.

Pass side wiper is not sitting right and sits at the base of the windscreen. Hopefully tubbytommy can look at this?

The top of the windscreen where the rubber sits with the roof is rusting as the rubber is scrubbing away at the paint. This may need a respray or a chip away guy to fix. Help.

Front bumper needs a respray due to chips and etc.

Ride is very hard and i am bouncing on motorways. Hopefully it was just tyre pressures?

Help my money is going. Have i made a mistake? I don't dare tell the wife and my 2 year old.

Can anyone help or give a good price for this work? I am based in Slough but i am in leicester tonight and tomorrow morning and come back to leicester every few weeks.

Regards.

Without wanting to sound like an ****, did you drive the car first, is this all a complete surprise to you.

Reserve tank? Do you mean the expansion tank at the front at the side of the radiator? That should be low! Just enough to cover the end of the pipe IIRC.

Lol, your a bit of a worry wart you are aren't you!

Just chill before you give yourself an ulcer.

Tubbs is going to take a look at it for you and he'll set you straight, but be warned he's boning the last person he helped out off here, so don't bend over to pick anything up that he drops accidentally on purpose.

Dont panic mate!. You have to remember that it is now 9/10 years old so dinks and marks are going to be present. They can all be dealt with. The ride I have answered on your other thread. I reckon its probably the tyres that dont help. As I said on that thread I changed my potenza'a for eagle F1's and the ride improved dramatically, tho the grip wasnt as good. A trade off I guess. Also, standard Sti's are a bit bouncy at the back, particularly if you are not used to them, but again, a set of second hand springs from someone like prodrive/eibach with sort that. The 'reserve' tank you mention is probably the expansion tank and as already said, should be low.

Bulbs are bulbs. They can go at any time.

The 04 STi is a good reliable car, particularly if its pretty standard. The danger is you will be continually modding to improve it!!!!

Ask TubbyTommy to cover the rust on the roof with a vent , and any stone chips with a WRC sticker set.

To be fair the problems aren't too serious and at least you know the engine (the expensive part) is sound. When its all sorted, you'll be happy you bought it!

Sounds like the rear shocks going, been there, done that, got the tee-shirt.

They all have bouncy suspension, just something you have to get used to.

Live with it for now, then change to coilovers once it gets really bad.

You shouldn't worry. My 2005 STI had crap wipers, bulbs and what not, but she pulled like a train on the rolling road. Spend £100 on nice new bulbs, blades, wax Eric and you'll forget all your concerns.

I can totally sympathise with the worrying, I've been in paranoia mode since getting mine and none of my stressing has been justified, I think it's just a case of getting used to the quirks of a new, old, car. Sounds like your mind had been put at ease now though, so enjoy

No I don't believe it was Tubbs, Brian had a check over the motor to make sure there were no major issues with it being local(ish) to the people selling it, Works on a few cars I know and Daves is one of them
