This is meant to be less confrontational than the title appears! But basically I'm getting a Widetrack STI soon and I'm wondering what I've got to look forward to!

Oh I know the differences I've been researching like crazy. Just wanted to hear how good they are really!

 

The Hawkeye interior has got to be one of the better attributes, the old heater controls and stuff just look soooo dated now.

 

The face 05 blobeyes have the same interior
one of the things i was looking for when i got my wrx
also had to be grey and that was only an option on the 05 onwards also

 

why not drive both and compare, i dont think the average driver would tell the difference on the road, but the widetrack has a better interior and worth more come resale time.

 

I like the exclusivity really! Aside from the clear benefits. And the fact the 5x114.3 pcd opens up a hell of a lot of wheel options too. And I've got my eye on two already!

 

The major differences were the geometry and updated anti roll bars to what the spec c had, this reduced understeer and made the car better in the handling department.
Some other mechanical differences include revised gearing and some updated gearbox parts, no engine differences on the UK cars to previous versions.

 

Think on jdm though the engine is same as spec c just without oil cooler, where earlier cars the spec c had different cams.

 

Hopefully getting one at the end of the month. Its not the cleanest, bodywork needs a good once over but 66k on the clock and cheap as chips

I think the 05 spec wide tracks have the AVCS heads as well, I know mine does !!

 

Yes they do mate... People running them at 500bhp also on standard internals

 

They all have the AVCS heads as AVCS was introduced on the 2001 STI.

Not sure if they get the bigger ported engine like the Spec C, one for the engine builders I think

 

jdm cars have the big port heads uk cars dont

I bought my uk 03sti new, and to be honest its been the best car I've ever had. The 05 should be even better! Enjoy!

 

I've had mine for around 3 weeks now.. They seem spot on cars!

 

The Diff.

 

The larger PCD stands out to me as a drawback from a point of view as a wheel lover, narrows the range of alloys available.

 

Most proper jap wheels come in 5x114

 

Yep I'd say there's a lot more wheels out there. Especially if you are not sticking to stock sizes and offsets etc.
