Default vin again

hi folks

bought the 52 plate wrx wagon last year. the other night a young girl in a fiesta decided to not stop at traffic lights and slammed the back. my local indie specialist(ex dealer) whilst looking the car over for quote, mentioned that the car was an import. i asked how and he replied it was because the key has the alarm on it instead of a seperate fob??

armed with my car data check which says otherwise i decided to try to decipher the vin. found a few references regarding the vin but got stuck

JF1GGAKD32G01151

so i know that JF1 is fuji heavy industries (subaru), G = impreza, G = 2nd gen wagon, character six is looking for a number for engine type but my vin shows A, also the next (7th) character is a K showing wrx sti (my car is a wrx)

also when planting the vin into this check site http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle...baru/VIN_Codes it shows that the check digit (9th) should read a 2 but mine is a 3 very confused, should i be smelling a rat??

thanks in advance

Neil

Think you will find that newage scoobys have the alarm in the key fob and not a separate fob like the classics had...

Also imports usually have an added fog light at the rear (usually below the rear bumper) as they don't have one in the rear light cluster..

Hmm ..Don't kno if it's any help but a long time ago I used to work weekends at a dealership , and off memory Bug-eye's ( 2001 -2002) had a separate key plus an alarm/immobiliser fob ( long rectangular shape + blue with black button?) , inclucing my own Bug-eye STi.. it wasn't until the Blob-eyes that had it integrated into 1 large black key. I could be wrong tho'.
Also as s400byk says imports do have a separate rear foglight but I have also seen it built into the rear bumper of a wagon just below the rh light cluster.
Is your speedo in mph or kph?

Maltese import at a guess, I had an MY02 one, Did it come with a service book? If so what colour is it?
Fog light will be as UK standard built in to the rear lights.
Does it have a yellow sticker on the drivers door opening near the latch, If so what does it say?
Quite a few of them found there way here as they were quite a bit cheaper to buy new and still being right hand drive unlike the euro ones.

ok with a little digging i found that it is indeed a uk car however my garage seems to think that either the alarm fobs have gone missing or the alarm has been deactivated permanently. i do have the sensors half way down the pillar.

where should i be looking for the alarm unit??
