As title.

it looks like someone has removed your injector guard from that side there is a metal pipe on that gaurd that this joins to then on to the cylinder head breather
you can just peice the pipe with another suitable hose straight to the head breather tho

Thanks Matty, the picture above isn't of my car. Ive recently had an alarm fitted and the siren is near that location so maybe they have just pulled it off. I'll have a look tonight when I get in from work.

Depending upon model it will be like item 4 here.....
or item 1 /4 here where an intermediate metal pipe attached to the injector guard joins the two hoses

As per the pictures above you need to look down to the cam cover as see if the two breather outlets have pipes fitted to them.
The forward one should connect up to the pipe on the intercooler. (that is unless someone has altered the breather setup)

Thanks Don. I don't ever recall seeing anything connected to it. Why/how would the set up be altered if it has??

Being plumbed into a catch can or similar.
Surprised you haven't got everything coated in oil vapour.

Nothing has anything on it under there. There was a brand new alarm fitted in that area on Tuesday and that is still clean as a whistle.
Would it effect performance or be detrimental in any way?

Certainly detrimental to the PCV system.
Have you checked to see if the pipe has just been lodged out of the way and has been forgotten about ??

I will have another look today when the rain knocks off. As I understand it, that pipe should have a hose on it to vent away from the engine?

Yup, I saw that and I understand it.
Have been looking into a Catch-Can and the eventual result is that the fumes get vented:
