As per title how can u remove number plates which are stuck on with the no plate sticker things from halfords or such like?
Just wondered as i stuck mine a bit low down & the exhaust seems to be making the corner go a funny colour

The foam between the adhesive gives quite easily.

get some thick gloves and some dental floss and drag the floss round the back. perhaps the hairdryer would help first.

Depends how they been stuck?

If its glue - try a hot knife, dental floss or a hairdryer (as previously mentioned)

If its double sided (carpet) tape - again try to warm it up before gently pulling it apart.

I had a car where someone used velcro to stick plates on!!!

Just pull...

Having private plates I get used to pulling them off one car and sticking them on the next.

They take a far amount of pulling mind and you might need to support the bumper with the other hand.

I don't think you should just pull! I have done this a couple of times as I always use these adhesive pads. Just use a hairdryer on about it's medium setting directed at the pad at one side while slightly pulling the plate as well at that side. Should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to get the plate off.....

 

Thing is if it's the heat from exhaust that has made da blue go a bit funny round edges then i worry that hair dryer might not do any good either Anyway i now regret using twice as many of the double sided No. plate stickers thigns so guna b a bitch if i were 2 try yanking it off & besides that advice was used on the get needle off dial thing but ended up breaking 2 dials with that so may b a bit more cautious now
May try my luck with the wire thing but on the other hand it's already a funny colour so sod it i may just leave it now

I have done this a few times with a hairdryer (on MEDIUM setting) and it is fine, believe me. I had to remove the plates on my Evo about a month ago and they were loaded with pads from the previous owner but it came off fine with no damage whatsoever mate, no need to worry..... Just have it on MEDIUM setting and hold about 6 inches away moving it a little so as not aiming at exactly the same spot..... No probs.....

I saw some bloke being made to remove his plates by the police in town the other evening. He'd had some custom ones made up that had been manipulated to look like they spelled his name or something. You couldn't really read any of it but it might have well have been: TOS SER!

 

TOS SER? I assume you are referring to the policeman that stopped him? Is there really nothing more pressing and serious out there for them to do?

 

Anyway back on track i dont actually think it is a heat related thing now as the front plate is also starting 2 do it basically it looks like it's taking on water as the blue is becomind darker around the edges! Is this normal & it eventually does the hole blue bit & looks then normal (optimism mode on) or am i going 2 have words with those chappies who made em???
