General help please
Hi there new to the forum and looking for some advice, I'm using my phone so finding info seems to be a bit hard.
Basically I'm looking at getting a 2.0 impreza saloon non turbo.
Just wondering if you guys can give me some info on these models.
Any major differences between the hawk eye and blob eye? What years are these over? 0-60? And so on, sorry if this has been covered please just link me, I've searched for a while with no luck.
Cheers for the help

Hey,
I had a Hawkeye Sport for 2 years. Never had the blobeye edition but I know a few things.
The hawkeye is a lot faster than the blob, the hawk is 0-60 in around 8.5 secs whereas the blob does it in 11 or so if I remember correctly.
I got around 35MPG on a run in mine, dropped to about 25-27 around town and lower while hooning.
Cheaper insurance too, my renewal at 21 years old was around £600. Runs on normal 95 fuel. Just sold mine for 4k but I think they go for around 4.5k
If there's anything else you'd like to know, reply or pop me a PM and I'll try me best.
If you can go for the hawk, you won't be dissapointed.
Oh and the threads on here regarding the hawk's engine going bang don't apply to the sport, it has the 2.0litre engine instead of 2.5.
No doubt the turbo brigade will be along soon to tell you not to. In my opinion they're great cars if you're looking to save some money on insurance, fuel etc. (they run on 95RON, not the special stuff)
I see you're from MK too
. I'd have shown you mine if I still had it! Went last week.

I drive an 8th gen Civic diesel Type S due to the miles I do, but currently looking for an STI.
I didn't say they were better than a WRX or an STi did I? I said it gave me the grin factor, when walking up to it in a car park or looking out the window in a petrol station, it made me grin.
Naturally if you can afford the running costs of a WRX or an STi, go for that. Just don't dismiss the sport out of hand.

Thanks very much for the replys, I would love a turbo but being 22 and having a claim in these last two weeks have thrown that out of the window.
The hawk eye does look so much better IMO (compared to blob) and anything is an upgrade to my 1.6 civic (rip)
So other than it not being a turbo, would you guys say it's a good all rounder? Parts not too bad?
Cheers for all the info arkynsei, I will now deffo be looking at an hawkeye over the blob

Eek, I imagine it has. Insurance was the reason I got a non-turbo, thieving swines.
Was comfortable on a run, great handling (same handling as a WRX really) but not crashy like the STI I had for a short while, more comfortable. Parts seemed fine.
Think that's a good idea
They're not expensive at all really and do look better while being faster too.

The WRX has stiffer and lower suspension, thicker ARB's and on and on so NO it does not in no way handle like a turbo impreza.

Of course they aren't, they aren't designed to be. It's a shame but you're right, everyone will agree. It's a shame because he never asked for a comparison, just a few questions about a car he wants. It's a shame he can't ask them without being berated.
You are the one saying they handle the same as a WRX

I mearly said buy the turbo as you will only wish in later days you had
My wife has a non-Turbo bugeye . . . bought it when she was pregnant as her beloved 1973 Beetle offered insufficient occupancy safety.
It's fine - 129,000 on the clock now - all it's ever had apart from routine servicing is one new clutch and a rear number plate bulb! Certainly not 'fast' but it's a decent family car different to a euro-box.
