Hi,

it ran out of elevator,

Off camera the dog ( Wilf ) decided to bite the tail off, so now no elevator at all.

They do glue back together though (luckily).

You Pilots, you are all the same, David who is a retired partner in scoobyclinic, had a few real planes in his time, I remember him dive bombing our workshops in a single seat stunt plane playing at Spitfires !!

We also look after a scoob that belongs to a world class sky diver, he has in the past parachuted in to collect his car, madness...........

I just love planes.

cheers
Kev

Me too!

My favourites were the Slingsbys, like this one I was "racing" for a publicity picture at Dunkeswell airfield. I think I was the first driver sponsored by a flying school!

Neat aircraft! unusual undercarriage on some versions. Rotax motor if I recall correctly. Statistic. 70% of homebuilt aircraft are never finished. Where are they all?
(Sorry for thread deviation, I blame KEV!)

Yeah they are rotax powered and mono , but they do conventional undercarriage now as well
By all accounts they are a nice handling aircraft , I don't fly but I've had to endure countless experiences from owners ( worse than scooby drivers lol)
Here's a snippet of what happend to my mate ( In a Europa iirc)

Yeah sorry for the hijack ( just blame Kev )

I know the Europa customers usually go on the factory visit and are aware what's involved in a kit build , but when the only bit that looks aircraft like turns up as a fuselage (that still needs masses of work ) and the rest is bags of bits and bobs , rolls of fibreglass and tubs of resin ,,, I would think the realisation kicks in and how much work is actually involved in the build

My mate used to undertake full builds and help finish many part builds

No doubt there's many sat untouched in countless workshops , never to see the light of day

Btw Kev , nice paint shop , nice big unit to work in , maybe it's time you got cracking on a big build ?

Hi,

we charge £50.00 for the dyno and an operator, if the job starts to take a long time then we take a view on what would be fair, something like £50.00 for the first hour, £45.00 for the next one dropping as we go on.

All prices + vat.

Alan, that’s a great shot of you in the plane above the car, WOW.

Toneh, you are right we could build a full size plane in our workshops, we do have the space, now there’s a thought......................

cheers
Kev

Assuming the cameraman didn't move, the landing was downwind? no wonder you ran out of elevator!
Got a couple of F3A aerobatic models here if you're interested! You'd need a better surface as they've got retracts and PROPER engines - none of this awful electric stuff!

Well, he could, but he'd be a bit late on the aviation front.
I tuned a couple of these going back some fifteen years ago.
Subaru powered autogyro!
We just tied the back of it to a post and ran it up.
Er, mind the prop sir...

On the other hand, looking at the cars in the background, it must have been twenty years ago at least!

Hi,

no it was the same way I launched it, into wind, mind you with this 2.4 gig stuff the aerial is only short so no flag to let you know which way the wind is blowing, and as the field is in a bowl behind our workshops the wind direction does change, a fair old bit of turbulence.

I have a few with proper engines too but I must admit that my first thoughts on electric powered aircraft were soon changed the moment I threw one, clean, quiet and above all don’t let you down by cutting out just when you need the power, but I do have to agree, there’s nothing better than a correctly set up nitro one, the noise, the smell, vapour trails, all adds to the fun.

Contact me on info@scoobyclinic.com with some piccies of your planes, always interested,

Alan, you certainly have some great history to tell, Subaru powered autogyro, bet that’s fun, so long as the engine was built by a reputable company.

Cheers
Kev
