Default Exhaust volume question..

Hi ,
I currently have a Hawkeye WRX Wagon with PPP.
It it standard so therefore has the 2nd Cat delete, OE Centre and Prodrive Backbox.
I am quite happy with the sound of it but tempted to go a bit louder.
I've had quite a few scoobs over the years with plenty of different exhausts fitted ( incl Ninja, Ninja2, Group N , and even Afterburner ).. but never had a Hawkeye so find it hard to gauge the sound because of the different engine ( equal headers? )
So .. with the current setup , would a TSL Group N be louder than my Prodrive 1? I like the "standard" look of them and see there's 1 for sale on here Plus , have thought of getting a straight through centre section which I have had before but , athough it deepened the tone ,it gave slight drone in the cabin even with a sports silencer fitted.

All opinions appreciated.

Steve

This seems to have gone a bit off topic prety quickly!
My point was I remember when the Hawkeye came out the sound was never going to be as "flat4" as the 2.0 engine for some reason .. hence I put " equal headers?"
Anyway.. any opinions on the exhaust people?

The TSL group N is a lovely sounding and exceptionally well made box, perfect step up for a usable system.

Hawkeyes have equal length headers hence they are a bit quieter and smoother sounding on the standard exhaust than the previous models. My Hawkeye WRX exhaust is completely standard and was really quiet until i put the Blitz Nur-Spec S backbox on and instantly i got the burble.

If they are equal length how does changing the back box produce the burble.
JDM car for instance, you can put whatever back box on that you like but you'll never get the traditional impreza burble.

I don't know mate but when i got my car when it was on idle you hardly heard the burble but as soon as that Blitz backbox went on the burble came. I put this down to the size of the tail pipe and the way the backbox is made.

That's incorrect then. Even when I bought my car with a standard exhaust itvhadca little burble. As soon as you fit a larger de-resonated exhaust system you will gradually hear the burble more prominently. Remembering too the new age cars had more soundproofing etc.

Standard exhaust systems are very restrictive which is why the burble is almost impossible to hear, it seems even quieter on newage cars.

Pretty sure it's a tad louder than a prodrive - sounded great on my WRX with no other changes.
