You need to learn to pack - we did a Swiss ski trip last month and got two adults, a double ski bag, two VERY large holdalls, a small holdall, two rucksacks, and on the way back courtesy of Tesco Calais, 144 bottles of wine all INSIDE our 4 door.....

For a short roof line as the P1, I would look for a FiberGlass box. Thule does make a fiberGlass box this year I believe. If you end up with a "plastic" box, you will notice it vibrating at higher speed's, resulting in stress cracks by the mounting bolts.

Happy,

Autocar or AutoExpress (can't remember which) has a review this week of several types based on cost, style, capacity etc may be worth a read.

Happy - I bought one for my MY00 GT just B4 christmas, no the roof rack doesn't damage the car but it is the biggest pain in the **** to fit in th ewhole world, I bought the Subaru rack for my car and it took the dealer over an hour to fit it, I had a plastic box which I got 3 snowboards a set of skis 3 pairs boots and asorted other crap in, I think it is a good investment but only if you intend to use it and have the time and patience to fit the poxy roof rack.

Can't comment on boxes, but Thule roofbars are the ones to have. Used various models for 10 years for canoeing and the like, and they'll take more weight than the car will

Some of Halfords own brand are actually re-badged Thule (usually a model behind the latest stuff) and are quite good - I'm using Halfords bars on my wagon's roof-rails and they're great.
