Engine rebuild on 2.5
Going to rebuild the complete engine on my 2.5 was wondering who's done it and what's the best parts to use?? Been looking at a lot of cosworth parts I.e headgaskets, oil pump. Cheers
I had my 2.5l fully forged with Wiseco pistons and Manley rods combo, ARP heads studs, ACL bearing, Cosworth gaskets, RCM pump and loads more, but all depends what you want to achieve and what you budget is, there are many parts to choose from.
I had my parts from www.realstreetperformance.com they are based in US so you will have duty to pay on top of the price that you will pay for the parts, but if you talk to them they will help you out
Hope this helps

Use correct parts you should be fine at that level of power. Whos doing the rebuild?
You do know that at the power level you will need 6speed as well?

You DO know about the 6-speed, yes? The torque of your new build will kill a 5-speed box.
Cosworth and RCM parts are good, but there are others out there, have a word with David at API, Harvey Smith among others, for advice and parts.

If your going to do the build yourself as said before to get parts cheaper, then real street performance in the U.S.A are a good company, and are experienced about customs charges so you wont get stung that much I have used them myself numerous times and there service is excellent letting you know every step of the way what's going on untill you recieve your parts, talk to Jay or Trevor.

What you want - depends on what you put inn
It's an open book as to what spec you make it
A good basic spec with forged internals will set u back a cpl grand
Moving up the ladder to ?
I'm £10k on engine , clutch , flywheel , ancillary , exhaust
& that's without turbo
The standard block / liners are on there limit at 480 / there are cases of people running higher but not the majority . if you want a strong reliable build , do your research on products & don't push the envelope
A 400 road car makes for 1 exiting toy
Your going into big spends if you want power & reliability after that

As above use Real street performance, great guys Jay and Trevor are great guys, helping me few times and really worth spend with them money.
Parts cost there great money and including the cost of shipping and import tax is still cheaper than here
We are running on the OBD 490bhp without the problem, but this is on the 2.0L(EJ205 and 2.1 stroker kit) which has have thicker walls than 2.5L,2.5L with right parts will hold 450-500bhp above that you will need speak to AS Performance about the pinning the block or closed deck insert
