Default Address using car reg ??

Basically, had a couple of undesirables snooping around my garage this evening while i was on my drive with the garage door open. They just pulled up and started asking questions about the gym equipment I have in there etc etc. I remained friendly and chatty and he mentioned he lived down a certain road in my town.
I had the savvy to get the reg off his pick up truck and had a ride down 'his' road but didn't see the truck.
Is there a way I can find out the address of where the vehicle is kept by knowing the reg ??

Cheers,
Matt.

Sounds dodgy mate, make sure everythings secure, if ya know any police they can find out easy enough, only other thing i can think of is ring dvla and tell them youre looking at buying the pick up but theres no logbook and see if they will confirm street its registered to, theyll not give house numbers etc but they might agree street if you tell em
Worth a try

Garage is very secure, alarmed and blocked in with three vehicles. Side door is double locked also so would take some getting in.
But, if they want something bad enough they'll get it no matter what.

Wasn't sure if there was a website I could use to find the address or even just confirm the road name he gave. If not then yea, maybe DVLA would help.

Or if there's any kind coppers on here wanting to do another enthusiast a favor id be very grateful.

I thought it was illegal to collect information in regards to people's etc etc

As stated above if you know a plod , they can find on the hush hush

Take a cpl more trips down ( his ) road it may be innocent

But I'm very sceptical of people like this - hope its just curiosity playing

No way a PC will be doing any dodgy checking to find out.. Take it from me a police check (pnc) will bring up dvla results anyway. So if they can't give them to you then you have no chance. Keep the reg to hand and a description and keep your mince pies peeled. If it's secure as you say you should be fine.

No, data protection act wont allow you to do this. Only people that would have access to such info is the police.

If I were you I pass the details onto the police, so if anything is to happen atleast they have a head start!

I've just been told I can find out owners details from the DVLA by filling out a V888 and sending off with £5

Ring your local Police station or Police Force & report the incident as 'suspicious vehicle'.
Give them the registration & a description of the people in it. They may have already had previous reports on the same vehicle or persons using the vehicle.
