hi guys, hope you can help. I have done a search on here but cannot find the right answers. As the title says I am trying to fit STI rear lights to my turbo 2000. A few problems I have:

One of the bulb holders doesn't fit securely

The indicators show white light and the amber bulbs I have seen have different pin offset. Can I get silvertech bulbs? If so does anyone have a link?

Obviously the fog light doesn't work but I'm happy to either rewire the reverse light or just swap the lights back come MOT time.

Swapped mine over a while ago, I brought silver indictors bulbs on eBay for the indictors , I had the same issue with the One of the bulbs not fitting the back or the light secure, I just pushed them in and tapped them In place with a black gaffer tape, been a year now and no issues, no Moisture or movement, I will change the bulb ends when I'm next at the scrap yard. You will find your foglight will fit in the reverse light, just add a red bulb or a chrome/red light. And tape the now spare reverse light up, incase you want to refit the lights

 

Buy the correct bulbs for the indicators, they're cheap as chips. They are either opposite pinned or offset, offset I think. No need for Silvertec bulbs in the rear, you can barely notice that I've got normal orange bulbs in mine. Ebay

Fog light is a doddle, but, you must put it in the offside reverse light. These are the sort I've used, but, I didn't pay anywhere near that for one.

Most importantly of all, make sure you seal the lights properly! You'll have a pool in your boot otherwise. Carafax is non setting, which you need it to be. Use that or something of the same ilk.

 

I bought new bulbs last week and didn't know the ones I needed were off set, the way I got around it was to grind off the one lug. The bulb sits at a very slight angle but still secure in the holder

 

You what!! The correct bulb is about 80p! And you bodged?? Your another proud addition to scoobynet! The advice you get from this site nowadays is bang on!

 

After paying over £12 for a full set of bulbs and in a rush to get the MOT'd and regestered before I go away it was an option and one that works. Agreed it's not 100% but theres no risk of the bulb comming out the holder either so whats the problem??

Needs must, driving 7 miles to the nearest motorfactors to change two bulbs wasn't really an option. improvise, adapt and over come I thought

I'll take my smack on the wrist, do my 250 lines and promise not to do it again!!

 

Move to civilisation then. I've got a motor factors at the top of my street.

Needs must at times though, but, I'd still get the correct bulb fitted.
