Hi all,
I hope to pick up my first Subaru this coming week. It's a STI PPP reg Sept 05 with 41,000 miles on the clock. The only mod is a Forge VTA dump valve.
I would value peoples opinion on
1. What to look for when I go an inspect the vehicle.
2. What mods I can look at in the near future (not looking for masive bhp just good reliabilty and handling)

Forgot to mention that after reading a few forum's I think the Forge VTA will be coming off and either the original or a new recirculating valve will be put back on, not sure which.

I have not owned a Subera before but had a few cars now I am in my mature years :-)
Now the kids are all grown up and the insurance isn't like taking out a second mortage I have decided it's time to play again!!

Yeah put the OEM recirc-valve back on.

There's a buyers guide on here somewhere, just tap it in to the search bar and you should find it.

As far as upgrades go, you mention handling, the cheaper things that can be done are things like stiffer anti-roll bars, anti-lift kits and for a bit more money stiffer springs. Beyond that your looking at new coilovers from around £700. Those bits will certainly tighten up the handling and give it a more aggressive look if you go with the springs or coilovers.

When your looking to do power increases its always a good idea to contact a good mapper who will give you the answers you need and save you buying things you don't.

People would just laugh at you going ppppsssttt

Spend £200 On polish waxes sealants and cleaning products

Join a local subaru club and meet up with like minded people

I do like the sound but I would rather have an engine that doesn't go bang from lack of lubrication :-)

 

my brand new one pshhhhhhhhhhhhes out of the box

 

can cause glitches in fueling , but nothing to do with lubrication bud

I knew that :-) cut and paste the wrong bit. lol

 

Had them fitted to all 5 of my Scoobies and never had a problem. They may have a slight adverse effect on the fueling but so could fitting an exhaust/decat without a remap which everyone seems to do.

If you don't like the noise take it off. If you do then leave it on.

 

Most importantly is fuel .and im not on about how much it uses but the type you put in.has to be above 97 ron so either tesco momentum or v power or crappy bp ultimate
