Default 2008 jdm spec-c v-limited

Ive been told a friend of a friend is selling one of these as he is emigrating.I dont know alot of detail as ive only found out tonight but wondering what kind of value it would be its done he thinks 40k and is supposidly blue and very mint.
Are these good road cars in-keeping with the hawkeye sti and rb320?

And forgot to mention id have no intention of doing track days just fast-road use and used as a 2nd car.

That is much better than a RB320 in my opinion.

i take it after reading a fair bit on here the spec-c is one of the fastest point to point subarus out the box?and fairly reliable?

Tbh the hawkeye Spec C isn't hugely different to the standard Jap STi, the older Spec C's were a lot different ie the older the car the bigger/better difference there is.

So in theory a spec c hawkeye isnt really worth the extra cost over a hawkeye jdm sti?

I don't think so, as long as you can do without the roof flap just get a Jap hawk STi.

Lol the roof flap i could live without haha,so has the jdm sti got the same engine set-up and drivetrain basically?But some 4k cheaper?
Also maybe a silly question but ive sold 3 uk sti ppp cars before and all were run on normal unleaded are these the jdm sti and or spec c cars the same or is super unleaded needed?

just worked it out.He means the water bottle for the intercooler spray I believe.

If using daily I would say get a jdm sti due to extra sound deadening and boot trim etc, but if a 2nd car then a spec c. But they are different to a uk car so you really need to be prepared for the lack of burble. Soon not missed though once you get used to the howl at high revs

It's all irrelevant about the JDM STi Hawkeye vs the JDM STi Hawkeye SPEC C. The JDM STi Hawkeye is nearly as rare in the UK and hard to find. You'll find it's more a case of what you can actually get your hands on at any one time.

The lack of burble appeals to me tbh.
I was hoping for a clear cut answer of ie the spec c is the best of the bunch or no it isnt,the car wont be used daily but at the same time i dont really want a thing thats an ****-hole of a thing to drive any distance in should i want to on a nice day.Can you use a spec c normaly like you would an sti?
And what kind of value is a jdm sti at a similar age should they crop up?

Yes for the price go for the Spec C. If you have another grand at your disposal there is an RA for sale at Hurst cars. Out of all the Subarus on the market, of which there are literally dozens of different editions the hardcore would choose a Spec C, a RA or an RA-R of which all are hard to come by.

I sold my WR1 for my Spec C and do you think I'd ever go back to a UK car again?? No! Do it and you won't regret it.

Oh, and for an everyday car, I think it would be hard but bearable, mine is a second car and I love getting it out on weekends.

Just take one for a test drive and you'll find out how good / bad it is.

I've owned both (JDM SPEC C and JDM Hawkeye STI). Currently I have the best car for me now... a JDM Hawkeye STI. But then I had the best car for 5yrs before, when I had the SPEC C.... but that was for a different purpose and reasons.

450bhp JDM Hawkeye STI


It's quite easy to see what one was used for over the other.

It's built for thrashing the granny out of on Track days, but apart from that it makes a lovely car for quiet B roads on weekends! And its in a different league to the WR1.

Those two cars are stunning but did you use the spec c for the road when it was standard or did you get it already modded?
ie on the twistys at similar power is the spec c any faster or does the fact the jdm sti has sound-proofing etc a better compromise?
Il never track the car as ive said its just really a toy but id rather spend the extra money elsewhere if the spec c isnt really worth the extra over the jdm sti.

The SPEC C was virtually standard when I bought it and had around £50k ploughed into it.

The Hawkeye was virtually the same and all the mods I have done since owning it.

I used the SPEC C a fair bit on the road throughout it's life..... I was one of few who drove to events and drove back.

In standard guise for road use, I would say there is going to be nothing in it. The SPEC C will feel slightly more nimble on the road, but is louder inside the cabin. The Hawkeye is a limo in comparison imo.

Depending on what year you buy (by the time you get to the Hawkeye's the difference between the SPEC C and JDM STI is a lot smaller than previous models), I would say (assuming you can get one) get a JDM Hawkeye for what you want.

IMO for road use, it's not worth the extra....... but a SPEC C is normally an emotional purchase. They're great cars..... both of them. However.... the car (SPEC C) that is being discussed here to buy, sounds like a bloody good one and at that price I would be inclined to get it.

Like I said.... you'll be limited to buy what is on offer. I haven't seen a good JDM Hawkeye STI available for ages.

Older Blobeye SPEC C and JDM STI's come up more often, so you maybe better suited to get one of these. They will certainly be cheaper.

Thanks for all the kind comments on the car i wasn't going to post as i thought the poster baba should have unbiased reviews on a Spec c and a JDM STi and make his own mind up.

I would like to say that possibly the car is mixed up with someone else's as im definitely not emigrating and the car has just turned 29k.

Im only selling as i have a new born baby and cant use the performance of the car often, im now planning a new style X5 in 2 months.

Shaun i think you may know the car, i bought it from Avtar 2.5 years ago
