P1 or 22b too slow for the job. Half-a-second 0-60 difference.

Evo Extreme would annilihate and leave egg on faces of competition.

Need more hardcore Subaru equipped with huge torque levels like any 'type r' or 'type ra'.

Then the 'Sti vs Ralliart' fireworks would fly!

As a friend of mine had a WRX RA a few years ago, I would say that there is little between them. Funny thing was that he found his suspension too hard and changed it for a better ride. Didn't handle as well after, but at least his fillings stayed in!

The only downside to his car was that it didn't seem to have a very high spec interior. However, it was this car that really woke my up to Scoobies and Evos. Unfortunately, the car was written off and the replacement, a WRX STi 5 was never as good a car. Its body wasn't as stiff, performance not as good and he soldit after 8 months and emigrated to Australia!

Umm, sure the 22B with its short gearing adjustable diff etc is going to have similar performance to a WRX STI Type R. As for torque, again I thought a stadard 22b had more torque than a WRX STI type R which AFAIK has the same torque as standard STI, just different gearing, diff etc.

So WRX STI Type R vs WRX STI/P1 would show the standard STI slower at low speeds but at the top end the standard STI would reach a higher top speed, and cruise more comfortably.

Oh and no contest, the Evo is much faster/more tunable too.

Just had a look and the E7 extreme is 246bhp/ton a a standard E6 is about 190bhp/ton and mine is about 225bhp/ton in standard trim.

So I am pretty sure my MY00 RA would live with a standard EVO 6 as it has on paper a much better power to weight and short gearing.

Also spotted an E7 extreme is 40K aboput twice what mine cost does that means its twice as good

To get 246bhp/ton I would need about 305bhp which is do able with 20K to spend

Crisp

Does it mean that a £175,000 Ferrari is 10 times as good?

One issue i have with the special edition Scoobies is that to those who don't know, they all look the same and there are lots of Scoobies about. For instance, I can only tell a car is a (old shape) WRX STi by looking at the rear badge! Every day I see Scoobies, wherever I go. In the 7 months I have been driving my Evo, I have only had about 6 "chance" meetings and I have never seen another 7 while driving, let alone an Extreme!. That has to be worth something. Only downside is some people think it is a Scooby!!!

Quite agree Simon. You see many Uk Turbos on the road. As for Sports well they are a different kettle of fish. Bustop queues, local youth, tesco till tarts all give my beautiful Sport a second glance. And boy when I hit that accelerator the public grin!!!!

simon,
I have been driving the 22b for two years and in that time I have never crossed another on the road.

I dont agree that all imprezas look the same at all.

In fact the 22B is highly individual, having a one off spoiler, bonnet vents, front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, and front and rear wings, as well as side skirts.

The only body work it shares is the doors, and the blank bonnet.

Yes, that would be about right. That is why I didn't buy a 6 Extreme. While it produces 340 bhp, it only produces about 310 lbs/ft of torque. The 7 Extreme is 340/350, much better and quicker.

The 6 Extreme was the UK version of a car called the Zero Fighter in Japan. The car spent rather a lot on body parts which had no effect on performance. The 7 Extreme spent its money on engine and suspension and is a much better car. I cannot find the exact figure but I am fairly certain that the 1/4 mile is 11.2 seconds

I said it was from memory. When I get home I will look up the right figure and post here. Sorry if I am wrong, it was put in good faith.

Was at santa pod last year just after fitting a full de-cat to STI5 type-R which is producing about 300bhp/278lb-ft with no other mods. There was a guy there with a evo6 extreme which he had bought off Ralliart for £40,000 and he said was producing about 340bhp. Yet he could only manage a best of 12.87 1/4 mile after many tries. But theres me with a £21,000 STI half the price and managed to get a 12.92 1/4 mile albeit after a few tries.
Even the evo6 driver had to admit after he didn,t realise that the STI's were that quick with just simple mods.

Have been back to the Pod a few times since then and have never lost to an evo6 or evo7 with the same bhp as myself.

11.2...with that power....(cough bull$hit cough cough)...
AWD cars are *VERY* hard to get in the low 11 region - we've had all sorts of REAL 4-500+ hp cars try it here on proper drag strips...and very few have managed low 11's.

Simon not quite sure that the extreme would get a 11.2s.
With a 0-60 of 4.2s and 0-100 in 11.0 as tested by autocar magazine i reckon it would do good to get a 12.7s 1/4 mile time.

Dont get me wrong i love all japanese cars inc evo6 & 7 but when i bought my STI i got it because it was the best value all round plus i didn't fancy filling up with petrol everyday as with the evo.
